ladies and gentlemen the president of the united states of America and the most powerful man in the world!

It may be a tradition, but it's extremely transparent that he's trying to appeal to the American people and avert his declining approval rates by portraying himself as "one of the good ol' boys" or as "a down to earth kinda' guy" while not doing anything constructive on matters of actual importance.
Yeah, but fault him during one of the many other occasions when he does it when he shoudn't. He actually should perform this silly role on Thanksgiving, all American presidents should. Why? It's part of American tradition. Traditions like these have value, it's an event that binds America.

(Thanksgiving is, by far, Perfection's favorite holiday)

President Bush spends enough money to help, say, 10,000 people.

Pasi Nurminen spends enough money to help 4.

10,004 homeless people get food for a day, and the world is better off no matter what. Just because Bush (allegedly) can do more doesn't excuse you.

We always love to point at those wealthier than ourselves, in order to distract attention from ourselves. See? Wealth and power do NOT create responsibility.

This isn't about me. You're essentially denying that Bush doesn't do more than he can simply because you think I don't do enough. Just because you (falsely) think I don't do enough doesn't excuse Bush for not doing more.

HA! You don't even know me. Besides, I may think most of the things you've done in your life were the WRONG things. Which of us is "good" and which is "bad" is entirely opinion.

Unless you're a complete and total prick, which obviously you are, there's no way you could think the things that I've done in my life have been the wrong thing to do. Either that, or racist scum. Take your pick.

I choose neither. Since I've never met you and don't know WHAT you've been doing with your life, it's possible your actions were "mostly right" or "mostly wrong" from my viewpoint. Since I don't know, I must accept both possibilities.

Bush is a human being and an American citizen. He has the same rights the rest of us do. Including the right to goof off and do silly things.

Every human being on Earth can do more than they are. You could take some homeless people into your house right now, and make the world a better place. You don't. And I don't either. That doesn't make you or me bad people. I'm simply holding Bush to the same standard to which I hold all other people, including myself--and you.

Instead of lecturing each other maybe you should both reflect on the wonderful life of helping the needy that your President has led.

:rotfl:

No point. No matter how much Bush helps the needy, people will always be saying he should do more. Seen it happen all my life, to every President that has done any Presidenting in my life.

The voters demand perfection from the President, and hold him to impossibly high standards--but usually only when he's from the OTHER party. That's what seems to be happening in here.

Exactly. And my point was that, for you, that's reason enough to excuse him for doing nothing.

Certainly enough to excuse him for engaging in the kind of silly frivolities many Presidents have engaged in.

Nobody ever yelled at Clinton for not doing more to save lives and help the poor when he got caught messing around with White House interns. He did get yelled at for other reasons--mine being that he was cheating on his wife, and I feel strongly that if you marry somebody you should STICK to it.

But the idea "hey, Clinton could be sheltering homeless people instead" never crossed my mind.

I'm finding it hard to get to the actual, er, meaning of your post but either you are equating adultery with lying us into the Iraq war (stupid), or you are saying that sheltering the homeless is frivolous (a close call, but stupider).

Enlighten me, wise one.

Especially in light of the fact that Bush has not only not done anything "frivolous" for poor people (posing in front of them for photo-ops doesn't count?) he also has not done anything MEANINGFUL to help poor people. His government is 100% blind to them.

Lies, pontiuth, all lies. The american government gives out more aid to the poor around the world than any other nation in the world. By the way, Bush instituted the "faith based charity" legislation that helps churchs directly care for those in need.

Please, direct your Bush hated (tm) at something viable as opposed to something you fabricated.

Well, one would kinda expect that... We only have by FAR the largest GPD of any nation in the world.

Neither of the above. I said that messing around with White House interns is frivolous. Nobody ever complained at Clinton for wasting taxpayer dollars doing that, so nobody can complain at Bush for giving the bird to a turkey farmer. :p
