C2C- Resources Discussion and Ideas

Oh I thought you added it back when I made the chocolate request. Oh well. Maybe you can add it later. I think I even made buttons/icons for it.

EDIT: This is why I thought you added it.

Maybe there were problems with the graphics? Anyway Cocoa (Chocolate) is in but Coca is not. It could just be that at the time I could not tell the two words apart ie having a bad dyslexia day.

Elephants/Ivory to explicitly give both Elephants (Strategic) and Ivory (Luxury)

NOte that ivory itself is not a luxury resource. MAnufactured ivory jevelery should be luxury.
I think that none map resource should be luxury. Only manufactured resources should give happines like grapes are not luxury resource but manufactured wine is.

@Dancing Hoskuld

There is a a graphic for Vanilla now. Could you add it and remove the building made resource? Just make sure they have the same TAG name so all the building that benefit from Vanilla already still get the benefits.

The stats and requirement should be the same as the Cocoa (aka Chocolate) resource.

Thanks!

I can't get it to work - but then it is 3am

What was the problem? Did you remove the old resource first?

It looks like it is working in game but it is not working with the pedia. What building makes the manufactured version - I will experiment by removing that as a start. All the XML looks fine otherwise. Yes, I got rid of the whole folder - I wonder if it is defined in two places.

The Vanilla Plantation building currently produces BONUS_VANILLA. And it requires Coffee and Spices in the city vicinity to trigger it.

Once a map resource I would chnage the Vanilla Plantation to require Vanilla resource in the city vicinity.

Note that the old Vanilla resource was in the resource folder under the Vanilla folder. And has not been combined into the Manufactured folder yet.

Food Resources

For some reason Poultry and Squash had been defined as luxury goods but I am changing them back to food instead. All foods should give +1 health.

Food Resources

For some reason Poultry and Squash had been defined as luxury goods but I am changing them back to food instead. All foods should give +1 health.

That sounds logical to me. I assume bold means that you want to chnage to. I have some questions ...

Shouldn't the following give :health: since you can eat them?

- Cocoa = :) & :health:
- Coffee = :) & :health:
- Lobster = :) & :health:
- Mushrooms = :) & :health:
- Olives = :health:
- Pearls (aka Oysters) = :) & :health:
- Prickly Pear (This is just a Desert Fruit) = :health:
- Spices = :) & :health:
- Sugar = :) & :health:
- Tea = :) & :health:
- Vanilla = :) & :health:
- Wine (aka Grapes) = :health:

Note that Olives, Prickly Pear and Wine (aka Grapes) should just be health. Its the process of Alcohol that makes Grapes eventually give :).

---

Also BONUS_BAUXITE should show up on the map. Its BONUS_ALUMINUM that should not show up on the map anymore.

In general, food resources provide +1:health: any :) they provide comes from the buildings that use them. Luxury goods provide +1:) any :health: they provide comes from buildings.

Grapes, Olives, Prickly Pear and Mushrooms have been defined as luxury goods not food goods. I can change them if that is preferred. They would provide :health: and no :).

Pearls and not oysters we have clams for that. Which reminds me most sea food should not be traded until refrigeration. Fish is an exception since it can be dried.

BONUS_ALUMINUM does not show up on the map it is in the Manufactured Bonus list. Not sure what I did with the Bauxite one though.

Why are geothermal vent, Mammoths and Llamas luxury goods? I have them in the strategic section and forgot to bold their happiness, and why is Camel providing :health:

Yes bold is stuff that needs to change.

@Dancing Hoskuld

Grapes and Prickly Pear for sure to the food category. Mushrooms are a toss up since they can be both a food and a drug.

Olives can be both a food and a fuel. Of couse Olive Oil is its own resource so perhaps the food/fuel should be on that and not Olives. So I guess Olive would be under the food category then.

Mammoth should be the same as elephants since you can ride them. Its Ivory that is the luxury good which can come from Elephants, Mammoths or Walrus.

Llama you can ride now as well as are used for scout units and even the Alpaca farms which give wool. So I would say same as the Donkey resource.

Also BONUS_BAUXITE should show up on the map. Its BONUS_ALUMINUM that should not show up on the map anymore.

Why are you guys picking on aluminium? Surely all metals (and virtually all fuels and gems) require processing/refining.

Why are you guys picking on aluminium? Surely all metals (and virtually all fuels and gems) require processing/refining.

"Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal, in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface. Aluminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing environments. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals.[6] The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite." - wiki
