C2C SVN Changelog

When does anyone think that we should start the freeze for V24? Personally, I think that once the Viewports are in that we should begin the freeze, as that will allow us to make sure that Viewports are fully working and stable for V24. It would also give me time to balance future units for V24, as well as add my gamespeed changes I've been testing.

What does everyone else think?

Not part of the mod team, so my opinion means nothing, but I assumed that was why the freeze was delayed in the first place. I do agree that they should be turned off by default, but should be included.
 
Quick question, what are viewports and multimaps? been seeing a lot about them recently.

I have an FAQs thread which answers this, but I need SO to ask for it to be stickied.

In short, Viewports make the game see only part of the map at a time, so as to save memory. Multi-Maps means exactly what you think, you'll be able to play on five maps at a time, once everything is working properly.
 
Ah, i suspected a smuch with the multimaps. I heard someone talking about having mars or the moon or something. Sounds pretty cool.

Curious question, would any of this be possible on Civ 5? The civ 5 engine is so much cleaner than civ 4, and would allow much more complexity if it could be modded.

unless i am mistaken there is only a bug and crashes thread for v23 and i didnt want to start a new one

Use that one for bugs in the SVN as well. Everyone else does, though I do agree that there should be a different one (but too late now).

That's fine and I was about to say I found it.
Hmmm, at least I can understand this, but I do see the lines where is mentions 'sulphur' and 'obsidian'.
Can't say I could code it, but at least looking at it I can understand what is going on. XD
 
I'm running (significantly) late for a number of reasons:
  • Work has been busy this week, so I've had less C2C time
  • C2C is a significantly more complex environment than the basic BtS of the parallel maps mod, and interactions with other changes are making the port harder than expected
  • Now I'm back in C2C, I have access to a large library of matrure game saves as extended tests, which I didn't have in the parallel maps mod. Those extended tests are showing up further issues that need fixing
I'll need another week.

I think you should release V24 without it, since it would be default disabled anyway, and it'll be available on the SVN in a week or so for those that want to enable it and try it.

So, should we start the Freeze this weekend? What does everyone else think?

Well actually RIGHT NOW, cause i just read a quote by Koshling, that he WONT be getting the viewport ready, ran into some RL and more complications that C2C from being so complex and all, so will do a release on or about: 3 Jul then, not much of a freeze, but at least i got the latest FPKs out already.:whew:
