C3C Conquests COTM 02: Saves now available

Ok, I started this game, i don't think it will be a spoiler if i say Ainwood and Co , you guys have such a twisted mind designing this map... :devil2:

Although I am enjoying this game so far, it's a nice challenge and waiting for the 1st spoiler. :goodjob:

Don't blame me  Ainwood is in sole charge of the GOTM/COTM terraforming equipment, with mad-bax borrowing it at weekends to conjure up SGOTMs. I just try to keep score :mischief:

Anyway, I'm pleased to hear you're having fun. You make me envious, but not quite envious enough to spend a few hundred bucks on a PeeCee and C3C.

I also started this game - played until 2:00 in the morning

I must agree wholeheartedly with dmanakho - only a very twisted and sadistic mind would concoct a map and starting position such as this. We may have to do one of those 'intervention' things and get ainwood some much needed psychiatric help

Still, I feel pretty good about my game so far. I know most (if not alll) of the rival civs, and I am sitting 1 turn away from the Republic Slingshot. I have withheld Writing from the AI, and I am ready to enter into a huge round of trading. :smoke:

Thanks to everyone for helping understand the ag civ trait. It doesn't explain this very well in the manual or civilopedia and this is my first game with an ag civ. Thanks again.

Moderator Action: Please don't pursue the discussion of the map any further here. It's not *quite* spoiler stuff so far, but let's not have to get the red marker pen out ;)

sorry but i have little patience and i dont wanna play any more of my game till the 1st spoiler comes out :) , but i will try my best and wiat :)

Why? The idea of the spoiler breakpoint and rules is that they shouldn't affect the way you play your game forward. Are you relying on them to give you additional information about the map?

Edit: I meant to put that in the pregame discussion thread! Oh well, lets write something here:

I believe that quirk with the aggricultural trait only having 3 food in the centre tile in despotism when on a river was something introduced during one of the [c3c] patches. This was to try a make the trait a little less powerful during the early game as it was too game unbalancing (and probably still is even now!).

Am I the only one getting a 'corrupted or invalid file' message when i try to unzip the open class file?

I downloaded and unzipped that file just fine...
Something must have happened at your end.

Yep, it was my fault. I deleted and restarted my computer and its working fine now.

So just so I'm clear; it's not the despotism penalty that is reducing the 3F to 2F away from fresh water, it is part of the implementation of the Agricultural trait?

Yes and no. The Agricultural trait gives +1 food in all towns/cities/metropoli (that should be the plural, even if it isn't). Normally, the Despotism penalty would negate the effect in all cities, but one of the other effects of the Agricultural trait is to negate the effects of the Despotism penalty on food in cities built on fresh water.

EDIT: And I liked the implementation of the map. Maybe because I made the good choice from the beginning... (hope that wasn't too spoiler-y)

The old three-fingered salute heh?
That old wreck that claims to have Intel-inside can barely get up enough MHz to run your little utilities. It certainly isn't man enough to handle C3C. Its real test is yet to come, however, when I attempt to drag it into the 21st Century by loading up Linux on it to try some cross-compiling ....
