C3C 'Delta' Epic pbem proposed

Sounds good to me.

Is he complaining just about the name of the file,
or is he saying he cannot load it?

If it's just the name, he can change it to whatever he wants to when he saves it to his hard drive, I would think.

GPS to michellin. Workers are working. Explorers are exploring. cities are siting

Onedreamer is talking about "original save format". I think it's the file name he's talking about.
I know we had another name on the save file in the beginning but it changed a couple of turns ago.

That's probably my fault.

I'm in other games where confusion has happened about where we are.
So I've expanded the name to include the year as well as the move.

So it should be completely clear, but you need to copy the name from explorer, and paste elsewhere, to avoid a headache... ;)

Please let's stick to the original file format.
Here're my reasons:

1- old and new different file format create a mess.
2- the date information is useless.
3- the date information is wrong for some reason.
4- the date information is redundant since we already have the turn one.
5- the bc/ad ending of the date can create confusion with the serial letter that indicates which player turn it is.

for all the above reasons, it seemed to me that the date info only complicates things rather than clearing them up.

Not sure I personally buy all of Onedreamer's points.
The date comes after the move number so it should not alter the alphabetical order

But perhaps Michellin, and anyone else who wants, could chop the year off to avoid Onedreamer having this problem?

As I wrote recently in an e-mail to onedreamer:

I don't care which file name format we use. As long as it keeps the game going and everyone is satisfied.
