No, they can't damage the air unit. This is one of the disadvantages you might have when bombing. All they do is actually shoot the aircraft down.

Under the new anti-air system, units with an AA defense stat seem to function as a SAM site improvement in one your cities.
i.e. does nothing or shoots the attacker down. I have seen a destroyer shoot down an attacking bomber.

Does anyone know what the actual probabilities of a unit with an AA rating such as Flak or a battleship, are of shooting down an ennemy plane?

Thanks

Ok i have a small ''problem''.Here is the situation:In my land there is no iron, for that reason i have build two cities in an island that has iron(both of them are build on the resource).I have harbors almost in every city on my continent plus in the city on the island. What hapens is that although during peace time is shows me that i am connected(so i have iron)when i go to war the trade between my cities is disconected(the pop number in the city on the island becomes yellow). Can any one explain to me what this means,is it normal?

It sounds like the trade route might be passing through a civ you're at war with. If you provide a save and/or screenshot, and who you're attacking (what the land is like) that would help. Also, what's your latest sea tech? If the civ you're at war with covers say, the coast, and you don't have astronomy, then you can't trade until the coastal route is opened.

Is there any pros to feudalism that would make it more worthy than another government (other than despotism)?

One pro is that it is not a dead end tech, its built into another tech. Also if you are scientific, you might pick it up as a bonus tech. The other thing would be if you wanted to support a large army and could manage to acquire very many small cities under size 7. You just have to keep the cities small.

A popular strategy is to build as many cities as you can as fast as possible packing them in densely. Feudalism works very well with this style of play.

Thank you Chieftess, that is exactly what happened.I hadn't notice that the only see route was passing through enemy teritory(haven't reached astronomy yet).So...no ''problem'' :)

When a tile with a strategic resource is getting bombared, and the bombardament leaves a crater, the resoursce sould disapear or not?

The resource does not disappear, but it cannot be used until the tile is cleared.

I think that I read that there is a chance that the resource will disappear but haven't seen that yet.

I am playing a game where the AI sent in 110 veteran infantry divided into 3 stacks--but they did not have a chance to attack because i bombarded the s*** out of them and picked them off over the course of 5 turns. Even in retreat, I continued the massacre until they were gone--used around 50 artillary. Poor bastards never had a chance.

A technical question: I haven't bought Conquests yet, but I would like to know if the game is even a little bit faster when playing on huge maps with 16 civs, or Firaxis hasn't touched it?

I'm playing my first game of conquests as the Celts.

I'm fairly advanced in technology and no I've got a bit of cash in the bank I'm trying to upgrade as many units as I can afford.

I can upgrade my cannon to Artillery with no problems.

However I cannot upgrade my spearmen to a pikemen . I have Iron, the spearman is in a city with barracks, but no upgrade button appears. Anyone able to offer a suggestion why ?

Thanks

Maybe a stupid question, but is the iron connected to the specific city? The upgrade would cost you 30 gold btw (shield difference times 3), but you probably have that amount of gold as you say you have saved some money for upgrades.

If this does not help (probably it doesn't), then a screenshot of the city or better even a savegame would help. I don't own conquests yet so I can't help you with a savegame, but probably someone else would help you.

Thanks Roland - the iron is definitely connected to the city. One thing I have just thought of - are upgrads limited to one per turn per city ? I had already upgraded one unit in that city on that turn. Unfortunately I have now played on so do not have a save game

There in no limit to the number of units that can be upgraded as long as you have the money to pay for all of them. A 'shift u' command will upgrade all of those units in your entire empire at once.

Open the city window and right click the unit. Does that give you the upgrade option?

Hello!
Where is a short writing about the civs and their civilization advances.
I have already found the spec units.
Thanx

It upgrades all obsolete units in your empire, not just one city? Wow, that will save me time in the future.

One question: Do you have rubber in the city? If you can upgrade cannon to artillery (replaceable parts), you can build infantry, and if you have rubber in the city, maybe you don't have enough gold (there is a very large shield difference). If you don't have rubber, do you know Nationalism? The problam may also be Riflemen.
