You're absolutely right, vbraun.:)

I didn't have PTW and installed C3C over vanilla. My folder isn't named Atari, but a filled PTW folder sits there now somewhere.

Pssst, the fact that C3C includes PTW is top secret...:mischief:

How would the shops avoid the remaining PTW copies being shelf-warmers?
j/k

This is rather well known for ages...:D;)

I can play my brother in MP without buying another copy of Conquests.

Hehe but hes getting Conquests for his Birthday but don't tell him that ;)

How does the price for upgrading your units work?

I have 55 Swiss Mercenaries that could be upgraded all the way to Infantry - if I had the money. My military advisor says it will cost 9900 gold. That's 180 gold/unit. Is that correct?

The Swiss Mercenary costs 30 gold and the Infrantry, 90. Shouldn't the upgrade be the difference, 60 gold, not 180?

It costs 3 times as much to upgrade.

With bated breath ...

Does anyone know-

Can this (upgrade costs multipler, or, just the cost) be modified in the editor??

And also ....

the scarcity of strategic resourses??????????

That, my friend, is THE major change. In my last Epic game... (sorry for those who've read that already but I can't miss this opportunity to rant ;) )... in my last Epic game I had the biggest empire. Huge map, large land mass, 7 civs including me.
Result : two luxuries (woohooo)
Iron ok, horse ok (yeepee)
No salpeter... Yikes ! Had to wait alooong time before I found that tiny island with some. Other civs couldn't trade since they had only one.
Okay.
No coal ? Again ! Ah yes one ! DEPLETED ? What do you mean depleted ? Oh well. invades Ottoman. Grab coal.
Okay, refining... NO OIL ? Arrrgggh okay, sorry Ottomans, it's you again... Grab oil, and a third (woopee !) luxury.
MMMhhh what about Jet Fighters ? What ? Please, please, wait, I'll guess... No aluminium, right counselor ? Oh well... I guess I'll have to fight the persians, and run for that "most agressive peaceful scientific democracy ever" award.
And of course, no uranium. :D

Another question I have:

I picked "standard" map for playing the epic game. My understanding is that I can build my Fordidden Palace after having 8 cities and can win a Cultural Victory when I reach 100,000 cultural points.

Well, it take more than 8 cities, closer to 12. And I'm now at 103,000 in cultural points and the game is still going on. Korea, is second with 57,000 points.

I went back to setup to confirm that I chose "standard", not "large" or "huge" for map size.

Has something changed?

You need to have 2wice as much sulture then them.
Did you Build several citys the same turn you settled the 8th city?
Thats the only explenation I have

I saw that it has already been released a patch for the European(Italian,French,German)versions. Can we have an information on when will be ready a patch for the U.S-U.K versions?

Did that patch solve the FP corruption issue?

I don't think so,it is refering to scenarios problems. You can find it at the Home page of the site, but the fact is that they have released it very quickly. For that i was wondering if there has been any official statement for the U.K-U.S patch that would solve problems as F.P and corruption.

With the increase in the Optimal number of cities for corruption, the number of cities required to build a Forbidden Palace increased too. In a standard map you now need 10 cities before you can build it, more for larger maps, less for smaller. This change is noted in the Civilopedia.

As vbraun said, you require double the culture of any other Civ to win a Cultural victory, this isn't changed in C3C.

Thanks for your replies.

I've been reading the Civilipedia, but not enough I guess. Although when I looked up Victory Conditions, nothing was said about needing double the culture of any other Civ to win a cultural victory, just a certain amount of points.

This patch refers to specific issues in these localised versions (crashes during scenario's that don't occur in other versions), not to any general issues like the corruption bug.

I looked forward to playing peacefully with more success due to the new Scientific Great Leaders, but the scarce resources makes it nearly impossible.

I won my first game without ever having any oil (spaceship victory). I actually went to war to gain iron and coal (yes I had neither despite having a large empire), but my Persian allies took the city that had oil before I knew where it was. I waited the rest of the game hoping it would culture flip (there were 4 cities surrounding it with a thousand point culture lead), but it never did.

It seems daft that they fixed the major difficulty in playing a peaceful game (leaders), while simultaneously making it impossible to compete without applying the Bush doctrine to resource acquisition. It is quite fun, but sometimes I want to be nice, and you just can't get by without the key resources. I've still yet to sample the new features of modern warfare due to my inability to secure the full range of resources. Guess I'll have to do the warmonger style in my next game.
