C3C - Government Breakdown

Communism should have been tweaked up a little more IMO.

Since the city ring placement exploit has been fixed and with the addition of the Secret Police small wonder, I think that communism will be much more appealing then before.

When playing continents /pangea games, some poor civ usually gets stuck in an island somewhere and these civs basically are so backwards are useless they are just decoration in the game.

The addition of the curragh has helped to alleviate this problem. It is a scout boat available at alphabet and will in most cases allow you to meet opponents that are not to far away. Unfortunately if you are separated by too much water you may end up as "savages."

"Savages"? I wonder what that means...let me guess, you're going to say "wait till Conquests" :p. Unless it means that you will be seperated and have techs like in the current game.

I had that happen to me one game. I was on an island REALLY far out into the ocean, and my curragh was at sea (err, ocean) for 5 turns before meeting a civ. I refused a demand from an AI, and soon, every AI civ was at war with me, in antiquity. They couldn't even reach me (save for a Carrack) until Navigation.
 
Quick question: Is the MPL (which I assume is the amount of troops that can make people happy), the same number as the free unit support cost per city?

In other words, in Monarchy, you can have three units make people happy and if you have 8 cities, you can have 24 units with out paying support costs. Are they both calculated of the same number, or can a govt. have a MPL of 3, but units per city of 5 (for example?)

No, Poonchance, Military Police is not related to Unit Support Costs.
 
Ok...then a bit confused.

Feudalism has 3 gold per unit cost. And can have 3 mililary police. But how many free units per city can it support?
 
Free units per city are in the "T/C/M" (Town/City/Metro) column. In Feudalism it goes the reverse direction of other governments.

What makes you think it starves down captured cities? When you switch to the government type you lose pop points in every city but not after you capture one when you are already at fascism. You still have to do the starving yourself.

This will work great for warmongers, but my personal take is that this adds a level of complexity. In my warmongering strategy, culture is critical. To help prevent flips culture is also critical, and it takes 29 turns to starve a 30 person city down to 1. It also takes a long time to build enough stealth bombers to bomb a size 29 city in a couple of turns down to 1, AND weaken all units in that city.

The magic word is artillery Hellfire. I haven't been using these things much but I had about 60 of them in my last game. I didn't even need much of an army with that stack going around crippling cities in a turn.
 
No. Once you take over that city all non-nationals will be lost through ethnic cleansing. That's how I read it. Also, you will not be able to generate any culture until your nations citizerns are the majority.

7-12=City
13+=Metropolis
 
Niiiice....thanks guys. I thought is was up to 6 and up to 12 (where the graphics change).

So...Feudalism,eh? Depending where it is on the tech tree...I too am tryin got figure out where to use it. Monarchy still good for war. Though, I guess if you only have smaller cities, you can support a bigger army. But if you go over, you get wacked like goin' over minutes on your cell phone plan. Since it's forced labor, I guess you could maintain growth by rushing, but isn't that self-defeating? and wouldn't you want a settler instead?

I know it comes out tommorrow, and I can just go to the CompUSA to get it very easily, but could someone divulge as to what exactly the Secret Police small wonder will do?

Also, I was wondering if there would be extra flags like Industrial Bonus (in addition to Commercial bonus) and such

It will act as a second Palace (I think) and can only be built under Communism.
