C3C PBEM : Edesse - Medieval scenario-based PBEM

Played and sent to RomeotheMonk.

Kind of quiet from Byzantium yet...

One of my swords mysteriously dissappeared near Jutland. I suspect the danes broke our treaty, again. I was looking to observe the big German/Dane war, and lost my embedded reporter. It would be key to not for the rest of the free world that my Relic also mysteriously dissappeard. It was last seen near some Danes.

...Indeed. Maybe treachery within treachery? The Danes were well prepared for my stack of words and Spears, it seems. Their leader even mentioned he had two turns warning of my approach. But that was impossible as they had no scouts that I could see and I was behind hills. The only ones who knew about the dispostion of my forces was the....French (Who seemed to be negotiating a truce with them, despite extorting me to continue our alliance against them). Hmmmm....

Anyway. Nearly all the Germans were slaughtered. It was a total rout. This game officially sucks (with the imblanaces of the starting forces). I should have never have tried my hand at Diplomacy and getting the Christian Nations together in an alliance. It merely drew attention to myself, as I could have peacefully expanded and not had a huge issue with the Danes for most of the first part of the game (once Regensburg was abandoned).

@romeo well, if you wanted to observe :scan: the war maybe you should have asked for permission to enter my territory first... not that I would have let you to observe it from my irrigated cattle, but that is another issue... I agree that your "international observer" wasn't really a threat, but I didn't want to give you even a chance to pillage a strategic improvement (I turned Hedeby into a settler factory). And what concerns relic... you had a chance to retreat with it don't you? But you attacked and lost, so it was just laying on the ground waiting for someone to grab it. :mischief:

I found myself being very teritorial in these pbem games. If I see a potential threat even from a neutral country that I can neutralize I prefer not to depend on their good will, but attack first and then try to to restore diplomatic relations. I say better be safe than sorry. Eliitmees already lost his only two longships this way in this game and LouLong lost an army of numidians in RoR. That is just my style of playing so if you will happen to be my neighbour be careful about the movement of your troops near or inside my borders, always try to negotiate it with me beforehand.

@rubberjello I doubt french betrayed you since my worker spoted your stack of troops on the hill early enough to warn my zerks. They were killing some barbarians in Finland and surpressing some resistance in Sweden and were about to return at home anyway. Plus one zerk with French relic got teleported from Nantes that I gave to England as a part of our deal where Portuga will biuld some cities for me in exchange for Nantes, Dublin and Orkney. I am not going to invade you anyway anytime soon because of the inequal forces so look at this from the bright side: now you have some free troop support!! :D

@akots THAT WASN'T AN EXTORTION  I just asked if you have any tech out there and you were very kind to teach me Horseback Riding for free. :goodjob: What I like about akots style of playing is that he tries to act not on his ambitions, but on how it would be in reality. If his position is superior to yours expect no mercy, but if his position is weaker he will try to bought you off as would do poor Abbasids if they were to meet Vikings in Middle Ages :crazyeye:

New turn started. Met the English.

@ Random Fan, teleportation, especially of something as important as a relic is really closed to an exploit. Please avoid doing that from now on.

Uhm I would understood that if I were playing Byzantine and would teleport it to Constantinople, plus Nantes were not exactly under the siege...

Please not teleporting Zerks into Constantinople...

Do not worry I am probably far behind in tech to do it :(

Yep, I'd prefer to play without teleportation as well. We can be nice to each other. Or at least neutral. Let our units fight instead. :)

But what is done is done, it is recorded in the scripts and noted, so lets move on. We now know what to expect and this is useful.

Played and sent. The Byzantine empire continues to grow.

I have just found out that I am part of the traveling coaching staff for our football team. I will be gone Friday, Saturday and portions of Sunday. Thanks for your patience and sorry for any inconvience.
Go Hardrockers. :) (Team is South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Hardrockers).

Played and sent to RomeotheMonk.

Built another city and will have Lost Roman Secrets next turn.

BTW, Who's idea was it to give the Byzantines a cool UU but deny them the resourse to build it? No matter, within a few turns I shall have the tar I need to burn any naval invaders...
