RJ and BK you are comparing Oranges and Tangerines. Market Garden is the 'final' version of the game and has many improvements over this game. For one, the Axis do not start with such a tremendous tech lead. Another is that the Naval capabilities are much better represented. A third is that the Axis can use cash (while remaining Fascist) to hurry improvements and units (all of these are in Market Garden and not in this game).
-Other changes that significantly change the game are:
-Spain is a 'played' nation in Market Garden (albeit they joined the Axis there).
-Switzerland is (by and large) impassible.
-Infantry is a little stronger.
-Transports do not have to be escorted.
-Spanish Morrocco consists of only one city (Tangiers)
-All the major players start with the ability to draft units.
-English start with a modified 'Democracy', that has no war weariness but low corruption.
-The French start with 'Resistance' cities in Norway and the Balkans (and also one on the Swiss border).
-The French and USSR have resistance guerillas instead of standard ones. Resistance guerillas treat all terrain as road.
-It is much harder (in Market Garden) to build RR improvements.
-France and England are in a locked alliance against Germany and Italy in Market Garden (but not this game).
Having said all this, I am playing France in Market Garden and did the playtesting and designing of the scenario, so it sort of stands to reason that I might have an inside knowledge of some of the better ways to delay the destruction of France.
