C3C Scenario/Mod: Rising Sun

If you take a look at the world ranking it's kinda strange that those Byzantines are ranked very low, but if you mind the fact that they have only about 10 cities (3 captured just a few turns ago) it seems nearly impossible to me to build a force with at least 15 Guerillias (they are not on the screenshot, cut them of by accident ... they are north of the one in the west :D ) AND to be technological leader AND have about 30,000 gold AND be ranked at the rank they are :crazyeye: Of course those 15 Guerillias aren't that much, but they are the newest units they can build (and as I traded with them 2 or 3 turns ago they didn't had the technology to build 'em...so they got the tech build 15 and walked through half of the map...f*k ;) )

@Pawel
Maybe I should uninstall Civ III and C3C and install them in the C: drive instead. I'll try that and tell you if I get new problems.

Luddi VII:
I think re=installing sounds like a good idea. Not that the drive should matter in itself, but something seems to be wrong with the installation the way it is. It could be as simple as that the save directory is missing, but I don't know. Anyway, I hope you will have the opportunity to post some more comments soon! :goodjob:

The ranking accumulates over the whole game, so it can happen that a powerful civ has a low ranking if they started out slow. From the minimap it seems that they just defeated the western Romans. That they got so many new units quickly is not surprising considering their wealth. They just upgraded older ones... If a civ trades in a clever way, they can get that amount of money. Maybe it actually was your tech that helped them get rich and conquer the world? :crazyeye: It is nice that you posted the ranking and minimap. It tells me a little about how the other civs are doing in their remote corners of the world!

Luddi, the ability to make saves is not determined by the scenario. When everything is properly installed the saves in this scenario work without problems. Just make sure that you use version 1.22 of Conquests.

I will gladly help you to check your civ installation. If you post an image showing the civ directory tree I can see if all the directories (including those for the Rising Sun) are in the right place.

Pawel : will you update Rising Sun ?

Why not create a "If" scn ? Rome conquered by Carthage or IIIth Reich survived in 1964 (like in book Fatherland) ?

Or a scn in 19 th where armies of United States of Europe have invaded Victorian England ? This scn is inspired by a scn of Civ 2 Test of Time !

Lachlan:
So far I haven't planned on creating more scenarios for the Rising Sun - mainly due to time limitations. It would, however, be great if you would be interested in doing that! :D And I would help in any way I can. When they would be finished, they could be included as part of the package.

silver:
Wow! What an empire! I will have to study the maps later today!
There is nothing I can do about mirror two - except maybe complain to Thunderfall. :) But if the Civfanatics links stop working I will link to the Firaxis site...

Luddi:
The reason I suggested to check the version is that I remembered that at some point they changed the file format. Since the scenario is created using version 1.22, there might be some incompatibility that gives a problem when saving. Still, having the correct version is strongly recommended whether this is the case or not. From your picture it seems that the Rising Sun is installed in the right place.

Just make sure you have the latest version. I think that Civ 3 Gold ships patched, but I am not sure. If you have bought Conquests separately, all you have to do is to download and install the latest patch. This has other advantages as well since they fixed many bugs.

Have you checked that 1.22 appears in the lower left corner when you start up? And did you get the complete patch (no the upgrade from 1.20)?

Other than this I really don't know what to advise you at the moment. I have checked on several computers, and can't reproduce your problem. Nor does it seem that anyone else has experienced it. And this is not really surprising, since the save function is not directly related to the scenario contents. Could if be that you changed something after installing the game (for instance working on your own projects) that could interfere?

Could you post the game from which you took the impressive screen shots? It would be fun for me to have a closer look, and Luddi could try to load it. Maybe it would help him figuring out the problem he is having.

First I had installed the upgrade from v1.20, but then I installed the full v1.22 patch in hope that the problem was fixed.

But it isn't only in this scenario I have got the save error, I've got it in Rhye's of Civilization, too. And in two ordinary games. So it can't be something with the scenario that makes this error.
