C3C v1.22 patch (standalone) is out!!!

Does anyone know why 1.22 is NOT available for downloading at civ3.com?

The latest they are offering is 1.20! :)

IIRC, another CFC poster said they USED to have 1.22 up but took it down and replaced it with 1.20!?

the new gtom need c3c 1.22

Thanks Pounder...............I guess www.firaxis.com is THE place to go and IS maintained by Firaxis.

If Atari, the French company, is maintaining www.civ3.com (The "Offficial" site)................they should MAINTAIN it!!!

(They're giving Firaxis, an American company, a bad name! )

Someone with the power to remove it didn't like it. It was a personal agenda item and used valuable resources that could have gone into fixing proper bugs.

I concur, I just found out about the change now (haven't completed an entire game in 1.22 yet) and I think it is possibly the stupidest 'fix' ever. Radio is going back into my Mod though!

They need to fix real bugs (my personal gripe is not being able to have 31 players for hotseat games, put hotseat into single player as it is single computer, and allow me and my buddy to fight 29 other comps for fvck sakes!).

You forgot to use the past tense. They've moved on to other projects now and we are likely to never see a C3C that works right. They were working on it and screwing it up worse so they quit.

For MP, anyone that can get it to work at all should feel lucky. They couldn't write thier own MP code so they contracted w/ gamespy and interfaced with thier engine. Unnecessary complexity IMO.

Glad i'm not bitter about any of it though

LOL yeah that seems to be how it went. I didn't know the history with Gamespy but then again I'm new to this forum.

Let's hope they get it right with Civ 4...

After I install the 1.22 patch, I get the "please insert the civilization III: conquests cd-rom" error message.

When I de-install the patch and run setup again from the cd ("repair"), the game works again.

I used the contact form at http://www.atarisupport.com, but I don't have much hope of getting an answer, cause it says that it is for the US and Mexico, and I am in Europe.

Too bad, I wanted to join in the GOTM.

Thanks for the reply. I am indeed in the Netherlands, but the contact info you listed may be outdated: there seems to be no http://www.nl.infogrames.com/, and at www.infogrames.com they only list a "Product PR" telephone number for Atari Benelux (Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg).

I have now also contacted support at http://www.uk.atari.com. Since I have bought my cd from amazon.co.uk, that seems a good place to try.

I just got an email from the American helpdesk at www.atarisupport.com. It's nice that they wrote back, but what they wrote is rather disappointing: "[....] Do not apply any patches as Conquests contains the latest patch for Civilization III."
