Can AI cancel open border?

I know I can cancel open border. But I don't remember situation, when AI canceled open border. To get open border with AI they must usually be at least cautious or pleased. But once I get the agreement, they keep it even if they are anoyed or furious.

I think I rememver Frederick having once cancelled his open Borders with me when he was annoyed. Frederick opens Borders at annoyed, so either I dreamed that, or it was some other reason which lead Frederick to closing the borders. Maybe it has to do with TRs or something.

If it were a demand, the borders would have just closed without any dialog, I remember having had a dialogue where he told me that this deal had come to an end.

I also don't think that AIs makes such demands, but I'm not sure about that.

It seemed closed borders was more prevalent in pre-BTS versions, but I have seen it happen in BTS if the attitude reaches a certain level. Pretty sure AIs can request stop trades as well.

Stopping trades is definately possible, I know that out of my various games with Sushi.

AI routinely cancels resource trades with me, but I can't remember them ever cancelling open borders.

I have had Open Borders cancelled via the diplo contact from the AI, same way as for a resource, several times. It's usually when there is a sudden drop in the relationship due to a change in civic or religion by either me or the AI.

In my experience, they close borders with you if you become their worst enemy.

Ais with apostolic palaces and little religious influence often cancel open border deals. That's why you often see open border deals getting cancelled out of nowhere.
