Can I beat the AP?

I'll begin by apologizing for not doing better to this point. My only excuse is that its been a while and I didn't do a good job of making use of 6 deer in the cap and no happiness resources in my territory.

So on to my question. I depended on Justinian to build the AP since he founded Christianity, but instead Ghandi built it. If I try and beat down Ghandi (and Zara) I'm just going to be spinning my wheels, right? I mean my wars will be shut down by the AP and cities will be returned to owner by AP, true? If so, then I need to switch to Bhuddism and instead trash Justinian and Boudica and hope to catch Ghandi later, right?

Further apologies for double post of images and for not getting things into spoilers. I will work on my posting skills before making another.

Not a fan of low sea level, large maps or epic speed.

So much wrong with this game on many levels. You have not asked for advice on this anyway!

In terms of wars. Your stack is outdated. Zara has a killer unique unit here that will eat up most of your units. Oromo warriors are lethal. He has a lot of strong units too and a big stack. You would need to kill his stack first and I am not sure you have the units for this.

Indians have castles and a strong stack. Overall you need to tech cuirs or something more advanced.Or attack an AI already at war with another. Catapults against castles is a big ask and takes many turns of bombardment.

You are going to struggle here. How were you planning on winning this? Your science rate is really low for this date.

Can you post screenshot of the members (hit F8 and click members)? Stop the war need a certien number of votes. Perhaps aporeligion is present among some of the others that are pleased towards you. Perhaps even be the resident.

Indians have over 300 of the vote. Rest is Zara 200+ and Sitingbull 128 or so. I think Indians would win most votes.

Problem with map script is you get very little happiness resources and every Ai will have 12-15+ deer.

Of course you can still defy the votes? That or plan wars around the votes. Defying votes leads to unhappiness in all city with the religion.

Is that an Arboria map? Few play it, but I find it interesting.

Prepare well for your war, and can track the AP vote timer on the AP screen. So after a vote takes place you have like 10 turns to work with - be ready to attack immediately after the vote - multiple fronts is ideal. You can try to do as much damage as you can during that window, or cap them if possible. If 10 turns is not enough, you can take a Cease fire the turn before the vote occurs (make sure it is the turn before and not the turn the vote prompt actually comes up because if the "make peace with X" vote comes up it will create a Peace Treaty regardless of whether you Cease Fire or not)

Cease fire means no peace treaty, so you can declare again the next turn and keep the war going.

Anyway, I do this A LOT, if AP is a factor in my wars.

Other options are:

1) Dominate the AP religion yourself. Usually requires being in the religion to have enough votes, but depends a great deal on how that religion has spread and how many leaders are in the Religion. You can try bribing other AP guys on the target as well, but that depends on relationship factors.

2) Capture and raze the AP city...not always the best thing but it is something

Yes, it is an Arboria map. I don't remember ever playing one until this game. I didn't do a very good job of making use of all of the food in the cap.

Neat trick to war against the AP. Nine turns to fight, one to heal. Can't they still have votes to return the captured cities to their original owners?

I decided to go with the AP religion. I capped Justinian and Boudica with rifles/trebs and now I have to make up some tech ground on Ghandi. Hopefully I can take him with infantry/artillery.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Wars between votes would work but you need to get the AI willing to talk in that time. The return city to their rightful owner vote could easily come up. Rifles was probably right move here. Cuirs become harder to use esp when Ai get grenadiers.

This kind of map looks great for rep scientists. So much food.
