Just reinstalled my OS (XP Pro) after a harddrive died. Decided to install Civ again and FFH2.
So I Downloaded 1.61 Patch (have to - to install 1.74 Civ and 3.17 BTS)
then 1.74 Civ
3.17 BTS
Blue Marble
FFH2033
FFH2033 media
E patch
Have downloaded but NOT installed solver patch and unofficial patch 019

Can play BTS just fine but no matter how I try to run FFH2 it gets stuck in the "Master of Magic II" Loading screen. It goes through the init of files apparently fine.
I can hit various buttons and it will sometimes unload the mod then load another (e.g. Afterworld). If acts like there might be a screen that I can't see but can move around in maybe.
Doesn't matter if I load BTS first or try to go strsight into FFH2.

Any ideas?

no help for someone who wants to play FFH2? I am sure I am not the only one with this problem.

definitely not sure about it, but blue marble might cause problems and is not even needed since it's already in FFH2 if you like it so. furthermore, you don't need to patch vanilla: when you install BTS, it will automatically update it to the latest patch available ( even warlords if you have it ) . not sure if it is either of these that causes the problem, just my 2 cents.

After messing with it some I have figured out the following:

even changing title screen I can not see the text to start a game, options etc
I can select them (kinda) but no clue what I am clicking (can't see)
FFH2works fine on the desktop w/ same install files
my folders on my laptop and desktop have a different number of files (different vid cards maybe?)
clicking on a save game from the desktop almost worked but crashed the game

Load up your Config.ini file and change it to not use fullscreen. Or if you currently don't use fullscreen, tell it to start using it. Might change something just enough for it to work.

Otherwise, when it loads up, press ENTER, then wait a little bit, press down 3 times, press enter again. That should get you into Custom Game screen. If there still isn't any text, just hit ENTER and you'll start a game with everything set for random.

Worst case scenario, you might hit another bug that helps point out what the issue really is (I would suspect at this point possibly you don't have a Resource folder, or are missing huge chunks of it)

i have the same problem, it sucks

EDIT

My raw ingenuity has discovered the problem: I needed to download the 3.17 patch for BTS. It sounds like we had exactly the same thing going on, that is, consistent failure after the "graphics initialization" phase of startup. If 3.17 doesn't fix you up, some other things I tried were downloading patch q, downloading the graphics pack, and disabling movies/messing with graphics quality. Surely some combination of these efforts will enable you to play.
