Trump shook up the meeting on Saturday morning by proposing to eliminate all barriers to global trade, a surprise turnaround from his aggressive tone on tariffs before the summit.

“No tariffs, no barriers, that’s the way it should be, and no subsidies,” Trump said during a 30-minute press conference in La Malbaie. "I did suggest it and people were -- I guess they’re going to go back to the drawing board and check it out."

Trump complained repeatedly about Canada’s protected dairy sector, citing up to 300 percent tariffs that he said stand in the way of American farmers accessing that market.

I won't argue that. He's flounced out, after basically calling Justin Trudeau a liar for saying the steel and aluminum tariffs are insulting to Canada (the ostensible reason being that Canada is a security risk to the U.S.; that's not going over well here at all).

And since CBC hasn't opened that article to comments, I have to say this stuff somewhere.

Trump is gaslighting again
It dose provide a nice scapegoat for the Deploreables though, they can blame mexico, canada and the EU when the trade wars are good and easy narative falls apart and US red states industries get it good and hard.

That idiot Peter Navarro was telling Trump that Canada, Mexico, EU & China wouldnt retaliate with recipicle tarrifs.

What is it about this place that any thread where people are having a good time and making fun of Trump has to have some killjoy jump in and start "misunderstanding" things.
