Frontlines, Dolphin Stadium, Miami, Florida
Lt Tiner dived into the Media room just before a grenade exploded in front of the room, blinding the private momentarily as the dust circled around. When the dust cleared the Lt looked at the private and couldn't believe that the private could still see, his face was shredded and blood was gushing out of several big holes on his head.
"Are you allright, private?" Lt Tiner asked.
"I will be fine, how is private Tucker, sir?"
"He was shot in the chest, and he needs medical attention. So we need to get this wrapped up and get him out of here. Any ideas?"
"I have been thinking and after watching their movements through this glass I saw several weak positions, but we will be in the open most of the time if we try to exploit them. If we are successfull I am sure the Cubans will run, sir."
"Allright, we have no other option, show me where the weak positions are and we can coordinate our attack."
"Yes, sir." The two men looked out the window and the private pointed to a door on the right of the corrider and said, "There are only 2 men in that room, and the room across from it is the electrical room, according to this map. I used to serve as an electrican for a baseball stadium and if memory serves right, these rooms barely have room to fit in 2 armed men. So we should expect no resistane from that room, but the room next to it has 4 men, they were the ones who fired at you when you were moving to the ladies restroom. If we can knock out those two rooms, the remaining rooms are connected to those rooms, and that will give us the option of attacking on two sides. But if we fail they will no doubt reinforce those rooms making it almost impossible for the two of us to continue the fight."
Lt Tiner listened nodding every now and then, when Private Turner finished talking he said, "Sounds good to me, lets get ready." The two men checked their weapons and ammo and made sure they both had an equal amount of ammo for each weapon.
The attack
With both men ready and weapons cocked, they charged out of the room and headed for the first door on the right, Private Turner arrived first and kicked the door open, firing as he went in, he shot one of the Cubans in the head as he was getting up, the other fired off several shots before being brought down by Lt Tiner when he got shot in the stomach and chest. The two Americans stopped firing and rested, both checked for new wounds and finding none, decided to search the two bodies for any news. When they found nothing but money and id's, they decided to launch the next stage, but they were suddenly fired upon by 2 Cubans who sneaked over, but they were shot down by the wounded private who crawled out of the ladies restroom and fired off 5 quick bursts that literally cut one man in half, and killing the other in the chest. The two Americans left the room and mowed down the remaining two Cubans, but the Cubans killed the wounded private. The Americans withdrew into the recently entered room to count their losses and think of a new plan.
"So it is the 2 of us against 6 remaining Cubans. Any idea where they are?" Lt Tiner asked Private Turner.
"As far as I know they are in the rooms next to these, but this room does not have any doors leading to the next room. I was wrong about this fact and it probably costed us the live of Private Tucker."
"Do not beat yourself up, I should have had one of us guard the door as the other searched the bodies."
"Speaking of that, I better take a look outside and see if I can see anything." Said Private Turner.
Lt Tiner nodded and the private walked over the door and peeked out, he saw 3 Cubans retreating back down the corridor, another door opened and 2 more Cubans left the room and retreated as well. Private Turner went outside with his gun ready and saw the entire Cuban group retreating back to their position, which was guarded by the tanks. Private Turner took his helmet off and wiped the sweat off his brow. Lt Tiner came out too and looked around, bullets were everywhere, smoke was still lingering behind, bodies were everywhere, blood was on the walls, floors and even the ceiling. It was a horrible sight to Lt Tiner, this was his first engagement. Both men went back to check up on Private Tucker, as private Turner bent down to check his pulse, Lt Tiner, "Poor guy, he died defending his country."
"Sir, he is still alive, his pulse is weak but he is alive!" Shouted Private Turner
"Well, run boy, get the medic! Hurry!" Shouted Lt Tiner as he bent down to comfort the young 18 year old boy.
The radio crackled, "Can anyone read me? Hello?"
"This is Lt Tiner, commander of 3rd squad."
"Lt, finally we get ahold of you. Captain Vickers is dead, and everyone else under him, you are now the new commander of 1st Platoon. We need orders."
"Is the attack done, have you beaten back the enemy?"
"Yes, sir, most of the line is secured, there is still some scattered gunfire along the line but for the most part we have held the line. The tanks arrived and destroyed the tanks in Dolphin Stadium. Dolphin Stadium is ours!"
"Great job, we need a medic, one of my privates, a private Turner is heading down to get one, I want you to get a medic and give him to the private and have them come back here, fast. Also send 4 squads up here. I want to clear up the rest of the rooms down here."
"Yes, sir. Congratulations sir."
