Carolean UU bug?

Playing G&K with standard map, epic, king difficulty. Default amount of random civs and cs with standard map.

Playing as Netherlands and encountered America, got in war and am totally confused how America is fielding an army of Caroleans, the Swedish UU.

In my game they are labelled as "American Carolean".

Is this a bug? How does another civ get the unique unit of another civ? I've met all the other civs in my game and there are 5 of us left, from the starting default 8. There is no Sweden and from city names of captured dead civs, there was no Sweden to begin the game.

Anyone ever encounter America using "American Carolean" troops? In my game, they move through wood and jungle tiles as if they had the Minutemen ability to pass through rough tiles as clear.

New to Gods and Kings so maybe I missed something. Does America somehow promote Minutemen to an "American Carolean" version? I don't see this in the in-game Civlopedia but figured I'd ask.

America allied a military CS that gifted them Caroleans.

Oh wow. New to G&K and back to civ5 after long break. Do CS now have UUs of the culture they represent as part of G&K or did I just not remember vanilla civ5 CS having any UUs?

Thanks for the quick reply. As I'm now a few more turns into my war with America I now see them fielding regular Rifleman so the Caroleans must have been the only few gift units they had.

A military CS has a random UU from a civ that's not in the game. if you're allied with them and have the correct research, they'll gift you the UU instead of normal units.
