As for the AI, I have no idea why attacking one City state to prevent them harming me is me warmongering? In fact I declared a singular war in the whole game, and that lasted about 2-3 turns, and more importantly I was a "war monger" before that!

Definitely needs work.

heh... we could always bring back the 'vassal' code.

Liberate a major civ from the grave and they become your 'vassal'. No longer playing to win, and won't hate you unless you attack them or something.

The vassal idea is terrible and doesn't even make sense in context. Protectorate/Puppet State=/=Vassal.
