Caveman 2 Cosmos

Hey, if the creator of Caveman 2 cosmos is reading this i wanted to say thank you for creating this beautiful mod
This is my favourite mod of all time
There's quite a few of us really. And we all thank you :)

After asking on the forums about how to set the default era in the Custom Game screen to Prehistoric and looking at how other mods do it the only solution is to have the first era called ERA_ANCIENT as it is hard coded in the exe which displays that screen.

This means that C2C would first need to
  1. rename all the current references to ERA_ANCIENT to ERA_FRED
  2. rename the first era from ERA_PREHISTORIC to ERA_ANCIENT in all files
  3. rename all ERA_FRED to ERA_ANCIENT_2 or similar in all files.

Game breaking but should work... probably worth it too.

Would it actually break any games? I don't think era is stored anywhere.
Can't say I've proven it but it well could. I also would need to watch out for any and all hard coded references to either Ancient or Prehistoric in the code. You'd THINK that should never be the case but I should at least check.

Hi, this is my first attempt at using a mod for Civ4 ever, and I want to say that this looks fantastic. Unfortunately I cannot get the UI to appear no matter what I do.

I have followed the link in the OP about this issue but I am having trouble deciphering exactly what it is telling me to do.

I've also changed the value of the 0 in the .ini file here. I changed it from 0 to 1 because I read somewhere that that works, but unfortunately I'm having trouble tracking down the link again.:

; Custom XML and Python from user folder are not loaded
NoCustomAssets = 1

Sorry if this is answered somewhere else but I can't really search through 555 pages.

It's called Caveman2Cosmos_v37. When I downloaded it it had another folder inside just titled Caveman2Cosmos and I had read to take those files out of that folder and put them into the main one, because the game wasn't loading the mod at all. I did that and now the mod loads and I can start a game, I just have no UI.

So your folder hierarchy is like below?
CivIV/BTS/Mods/Caveman2Cosmos/Assets/
Assets is just one of many files and folders within the Caveman2Cosmos folder.

From your comment I suspect you have it like this:

CivIV/BTS/Mods/Caveman2Cosmos_v37/Assets/
Which would be why you are not having any UI.
Make sure that the mod folder for C2C is named exactly "Caveman2Cosmos".

Hey, I'm new to this mod and have a similar problem as described above.

I downloaded the mod, unzipped it and placed it in my BtS/Mods folder. When I loaded the mod it didn't actually load and the normal CIV 4 Interface showed.
So I opened the Caveman2Cosmos_v37 folder and found the folder without the ..._v37, copy-pasted this folder into my BtS/Mods folder and tried again. A bunch of XML loading errors appeared and I had to force-stop the game through task manager.
I also tried this on my brother's PC and the same problem occured.

Spoiler :

Any solutions? I searched the forum for a solution but couldn't find it.
Thanks in advance, I'm really looking forward to play this awesome-looking mod :D

one possibility - Did you already have an old version installed?
No, this is the first time I try to install this mod.
Folder name must be Caveman2Cosmos
Yes, this is the name of the folder. Without the _v37 or anything else, just Caveman2Cosmos.

The XML error seems to appear for every XML file. I don't know anything about this kind of stuff, but maybe my computer can't find these folders or something like that? I also tried running CIV 4 as an administrator and then loading the mod but this doesn't change anything...

Problem solved :)

My Norton had removed a file as "unsafe". After restoring it the mod works.

Thanks

After playing twice on the same map, I've come to the conclusion ignoring education pre-classical is a bad idea.
