Got it. Give me 48 hours to play. Some lame thingy tomorrow night (work).

I count 21 cities. Has the limit been waived?

Any objection to switching Cologne to Magellan's?

Provided the city limit is waived, any objection to taking the direct approach to coal? :mischief:

attachment.php

We aren't warring to take territory, so no to the direct approach, we stay at 21 cities(we must have mis-counted somewhere) til we research Fission, sorry. Just play defense in the wars, they can end any time if the WW gets out of hand. The plotting to get Coal wouldn't have happened if we could just grab it. I'm okay with Cologne to make Magellans, just make sure you wait til it can finish that turn, the game tends to be very stupid with what it does with failed wonder builds, and we aren't guaranteed to get it, since everyone else is building it. Remember, the US build is for Hoover Dam, so make sure when you pick Electronics as our second freebie from the ToE to switch Berlin to Hoover. Hopefully the boss-man can guide you further in the hows and wherefores with this game before you play, I'm not totally sure of all the rules myself.

To get Coal we may be forced to make peace and then rebuild the roads we pillaged eariler.

If that doesn't work, hmm, that will mean our first goal when we break out will be to get a source of Coal. It would be nice to have our interior railed before we get our Golden Age. But I don't think that Rails adds anything to the Golden Age bonus.

There is still Plan C, roading Babylon's jungle Coal. Besides, we've already had our GA triggered by wonder builds.

That's right!

:hammer2:

Nothing wrong with me; no, nothing at all. Gotta find that cure for RL....

I've prolly violated several restrictions, but we've got coal.

I'm really rustsy, I beg apologies.

Forgive me. Been along time since I've done one of these.

1150 - turn zero - do some minor MM in Munich, converting an accountant to a hardhat, shaving a turn on the stock exchange. MM Centralia to shave a turn off the CH, losing the clown.

IT - Abe visits. wants to trade WM. No. 2 zerks rush Cologne.

1160 -drop research to 40% (steel in 1, +215 gpt). Magellans in 4. Spend lots of time pndering how to get coal. Too lazy to actually look at the rules. FEEL FREE TO NULL THIS SET.

Last brain cell fires and decides that we'll do a psuedo direct approach. Spend most of the gold upgrading. Set up for the rape of Reykjavik.

IT - zerk kills a vmusket (0-1) Steel comes in. Start atomics at zero research.

h1170 - turn two - send PMs to Bede and Whomp. . .. .. .. .. . about being old. Whack a zerk (1-1). Cav kills a LB (2-1). Gottlob kills a LB (2-1). Army whacks 2 pikes in Raj. (4-1). Cav takes Rej and razes it. (5-1)..vCav kills LB ((6-1). Sell ivory and spices to Abe for gems.

Embargo Ragnar with Hammy straight up.\

Emvbargo Ragnar with Cleo for WM + TM

Embargo Ragnar with Abe straight up.

Embargo Ragnar with Abu for ivory.

Lost turn.

IT - Khans wants to talk - no. Salamance Uni -> factory. ToE finishes. Learn A theory and electrons. Start refining. Leipiz starts Mil Academy. Cologne starts Pentagon. Hannover art ->stock. Centrailia CH ->factory. Berlin US - > Hoover

1190 -vcav kills a mongol LB,

IT - f'd up again and forgot to track builds

1200 - vcav kills pikes x3. cav ko LB x 3 (13-1). Raze Baruun Urt.

Make peace with Ragnar for 2 workers and WM

Peace with Khan for WM.

pollution neat Munich needs clean up

Something illegilbe about Notinghham.

MY comp is having issues, thus no pix.

I'll look at this once I get home. NULL the set? Probably not.

We got Hoovers and Coal and still have 20 cities (we razed and gifted, but did not keep).

I think the rules were bent a bit but not broken, I would say you did fine for being a bit rusty. We got what we needed and are well on the way to some blitzkrieg warfare. A solid set.

The save looks good, as I expected it to. The good Admiral will soon have all his C3C reflexes back. :D

We can now build Rails and we have some stacks of workers/slaves that were fortified earlier. They are still fortified and can be wakened to slap straight steel strips down on the ground. Twevle slaves are south of Berlin, six workers are SE of Leipzig and four slaves are protected by an Infantry on the hill south of Cologne.

We also have two spots of pollution; one NW of Berlin (grassland) and the other NE of Munich (desert).

We have 15 workers and 32 slaves. Our MGL, Barbarosa, is in Berlin.

After Refining we have 4 techs left in this Age: Combustion, Flight, Mass Production and Motorized Transportation. I don't see any 1 tile islands, so we can probably safely ignore Amphibous Warfare. Combustion gives us Transports, which hold 6 units.

We've got to build Panzers and be in the Modern Age before we can make our move. That time is coming very soon. :trouble:

I'm UP!

lurker's comment: Do you have room on the roster for a latecomer? I've found a renewed interest in playing Civ 3 in the past week or so, and this game sounds fun :)

I forget if this is considered an exploit, but if it isn't, we need a perimeter guard around the incense colony so nobody plants a city.

We should talk about what to do with Barbarossa. At this time, we can't afford another army. If we're going to continue in Rep., do we want to slam US in Berlin? Military Academy is started so we'll have plenty of armies when we need them. I'm really against letting a GL sit. I'm pretty sure we can mine more on our own ;).

I'm also against airports unless we've got nothing better to build. Burn a worker and build an airfield. Less time, no shields (or is it hammers; )

Agree we can skip marines.

Err, should this really be a lurker's comment if you're asking to join the game? :crazyeye: Just have'n fun with ya. ;)

Wild thought of the day - do we want to go commie after we have panzers?

Mid Term Strategy
Begin planning for break out warfare.
Calculate cost of upgrades; have enough cash to do that.

Possible Invasion Plans
T1250_Babylon.jpg

Blue Dot is on a hill, 21/22 tiles from Niagara Falls.
Need a settler for the city, workers to imporve and to become an Airfield or two.
Army for protection. Cavalry/Panzers/MAs to attack and Infantry for defense; some Artillery too.
Maybe 36 units (6 transports)
1 Settler/5 workers - one transport
Army and Fast Unit - one transport
6 Infantry - one transport
6 Artillery - one transport
12 Panzer/Cavalry/MAs - two transport

Lots of time to get detailed, just wanted to get the ball rolling.

Thickness of the arrows means nothing in the screen shot; I just wanted thicker than normal arrows. :D

Short Term Strategy
Clean up pollution near Berlin; the other one can wait.
Rail!
Possible city build changes:
Konigsberg Palace -> stock exchange
Hamburg colosseum -> Palace

Learn Refining faster.
Refining -> Combustion (Transports) -> Flight (Airflields)

EDIT:
Protect the Colony with units so that no one plants a city near our Incense.

Sound prudent to me. I'll add that to my ToDo List.

I'm old and senile. Did you post the save? I missed it?

Still trying to remember stuff, but couldn't we use Konigsberg for Wall Street? We should have the requiste number of SE soon.

IIRC, I left some workers sitting on a boat down south of Hammy. Hopefully you woke those up.

Colony up the rest of the incense cluster and sell it/them.

Not sure why you want to do D-day before we clean up our continent? Yeah we need lux, but I'd rather have a secure base. If we go after Hammy, we lose the coal (unless we go after Darhan)

1 or 2 more cities building artillery, IMIO.

I'm old and senile. Did you post the save? I missed it?
No, no save yet; I haven't played any turns. Just an overview of where we are, what we're doing and what we want to do.

I do all that for my own good. It helps me to get reacquainted with the game and the game plans.

I think that Babylon is a bigger threat than Viking + Mongols, that's all. The four remaining Viking cities on our continent are surronded by marshes and jungles; the last city is a Tundra Suprise. The Mongols have better locations, but are not improved to a great deal.

Big, Grand Plan (at this point, anyway)
I feel like we could deal with the Vikings and Mongols at any time, but not so the civs overseas. Whether we attack from the North side or the South side, we'll have a one front war over there. By the time that continent is subdued we could then springboard onto the various islands from there; most of our units and ships would be on or on their way overseas. Our core would keep on producing units and we would take out our closest neighbors as we cleaned up the islands.

I'm good with that. Just needed a little understanding about short and long term to make semi non idiotic suggestions about where we're going. :crazyeye:

Having said that, me thinks we need access to cops asap. Now that you've declared our intentions, I'm thinking a lux grab grand strategy, with world war.

Hammy needs to stay peaceful until we have the railnet up or we have those panzers.

How concerned are we about our reputation? If we want to trash it, I have several evil ideas.

I feel like a stalker. Let me know if I'm posting too much.

Depends on Aluminum. That resource lets us build a lot of things that look good in camouflage. Uranium lets us build nukes, but I'm not as concerned about nukes. Convential weapons will allow us to engage in quite a bit of pointy-stick diplomacy.

So, if we have our own source of Aluminum, trashing our reputation to achieve a greater good (Confusion to our enemies) is not a problem.

You're not. Both Overseer and I are invovled in several other SGs. I find it hard to pay attention when it is not my turn to play, plus my PC time at home is limited by my mother-in-law's sleep patterns (She likes to sleep in the room with my PC, but not all the time and sometimes not even all night.)
