CCM1 (epic mod)

and the Skunk Works:

The U-2´s can be upgraded to Blackbirds and YF-12 fighters.

Ok, this one is not right. The YF-12 is a fighter who has some basic stealth features. The U-2 and SR-71 were pure recon birds. Completely diferent planes. Such an upgrade is, IMHO, completely wrong. There is no current (known) replacement for the SR-71, and the F-22 should be an upgrade for the F-15.

This is correct - but: The YF-12 and the SR-71 are very cool planes in my eyes. To use such a plane only for recon duties would be a shame in my eyes, especially as Wyrmshadow included some missile attack animations for that plane. So when they are used for recon, they are SR-71´s, when they are used as fighters, they are YF-12´s. If they must be reduced to one plane, it would be the SR-71 which had to go, due to the limitations in the Civ 3 game engine for air reconnaissance - but at present I don´t see a reason to do this. :)

A little creative game play is part of Civ and always has been. It is not a historical game, just an overlay. Fun is what is important, we have books for facts.

True, but putting the SR-71 and the YF-22 in the same family... makes me cry

I don´t think it´s so bad: :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YF-12 :

The Lockheed YF-12 was an American prototype interceptor aircraft, which the United States Air Force evaluated as a development of the highly-secret Lockheed A-12 that also spawned the now famous SR-71 Blackbird.

Of course you also can decide not to build the Skunk Works. :D

OMFG...

I've been reading F-22 from the start... the shame... the shame... *jumps of 20 store-high building*:cry::cry:

No, it´s a matter to be happy, as now you can use the Skunk Works and the cool planes produced by it, without any problems. :)

I've liked the Blackbird as well. It both looks and flies like a bat out of hell.

As for the famous pirates, I'd have thought you'd have Jean Lafitte as one of the American "pirates", as I believe he was instrumental to our victory at the Battle of New Orleans (War of 1812). There is a good chance we still would have won without him, but if he helped the British instead of us, I think the battle would have ended in an American defeat.

Would it be too much to ask for the Mirage III to be upgraded to a Rafale?

Rafale

Rafale

Why yes, I'm a Rafale fanatic, how did you guess?

I'm blown away, blown. Downloaded the mod over the weekend and started playing. The graphics, additional units, techs, concepts are top quality. I can't speak more highly of this work. Thanks for your continuing effort.

Stvnjsph, thank you very much for your kind and encouraging words. :)

100 shield for SSBN, wow.

I agree. That´s too cheap as this were the costs of the old building that is now replaced by the SSBN small wonder.

Lafitte was in the last round of choice as famous pirate for the US, but than I thought, it could be that he doesn´t sound American enough (more like a French grand prix pilote). But the story you added is convincing. Lafitte will be in. :)

Yes, this is doable :), especially as the Eurofighter, the Mig-29 and –may be the F-22- will be in the next version, too. But BeBro´s Rafale is a little bit outdated. I will use the Rafale done by Wyrmshadow.

Yay! Thanks a lot! :goodjob:

I really love this mod, it's driving me nuts, can't stop playing!

I think I may have something wrong in my files (biq) I am in first tier industrial and was looking for when we can trade maps because I was looking for rubber locations. I finally found it is supposed to be at navigation but it is not in mine. Is this correct?

There is no map- and communication trading in CCM. Maptrading is nice, when you receive a map with missing continents, etc. for the first time, but in my eyes it is annoying when 24 or more civs always try to trade their useless maps and everytime a popup window jumps up and you have to click on buttons to continue your game.

So maptrading is out of CCM for a better and even faster gameplay.

It is even worse with communication trading. You send out a small single ship in the midlle of the game and -bingo- you soon have contact with most civs on other continents. This is one of the reasons why most "better" players have the opinion, in Civ 3 ships are "superfluos" and wasted production.

I tried to set this a little bit different in CCM. In real history when Columbus discovered America, he didn´t have contact with all American tribes at once. A lot more explorations and expeditions were needed to get these contacts. In CCM your civ only gets contact to those civs that are discovered by your civ or that discover your civ.

And what shall I say: At least for me it is much more fun to discover the world than to get it as a present when one of your ships arrive at another continent. My experiences are also, that two ships that are built very early in the game, can give a huge dividend to the player by gaining contacts and trade-possibilities.

I completely agree. The "present" aspect of CIVIII is hokey. The trouble I am having though is trying to see, on my own continent, where the heck rubber could be.
I think, in future games, I should sign more ROPS and map out the continent for future intel.
I

Rubber is only really needed in era 3 (and later). So I let the player some time to discover the rubber and coal resources, as I know about this problem. When rubber is really needed, you soon will have airunits that can be used for reconnaissance duties.

This I like, mapping with aircraft.

2 other odd things.

1. I had a war a while back with Japan. Now that it has been over for a while I still can not trade with him. Only options are Go to War or Forget it. At first I thought it was a CCM thing that he was holding a grudge for 20 turns but it has been well over 20 turns.

2. I made an embassy with a CIV on a new continent and he was building the Great Palace in his Lisbon capital. Is this something that is advantageous or just AI :smoke:
