I decided to have another go at creating my old hovertank unit again afer a 5 month hiatus. It has been a long, drawn out, extruciatingly painful process with the palettes but I am on my way to finally putting this thing together. My program is not good at making fire and I have to render the frames individually so I can't pop out a unit as fast as some dudes on these forums so bear with me. Which one do you like better, surgical white, or the woodland camo?

or the camo? No I can't make the texture map any better or clearer, I spent the good part of a day trying.

Camo looks more realistic but the white is really cool for a futuristic unit, I don't know much abouut unit creation but couldn't you make it all in white and put on the colour after so that you could release both.

I have been slaving nearly 8 hours on this unit with a very insipid grafix program that is not very nice. It took more 6 hours just to figure out how the pallettes on photoshop work so that my colors won't be messed up. Im sticking with the camo. I'm doing the run animation. If anyone can explain to me what the numbers in the Unit.ini file refer to, please do.

What do you mean? I think the numbers symbolise how fast your unit animations play, but don't mess around with them. Build your unit using FILCster, it's a lot easier (and to my knoledge the only real way to get it to work in-game)

The numbers have to with the timing of the animation. I don't understand how it works but I do know the higher the 'Normal' or 'Fast' speed on top, the quicker the animation plays and lowering it slows it down. ( It made the AT-AT look much better @ around 125....BTW) and it looks to me the other numbers are a pause between flcs so in theory making the number 0.000000 instead of 0.500000 would smooth some units out a little, though I haven't messed with these yet;)

I don't think many have, I know I havent so I couldn't help you out there. You could use the settings from another tank to guide you, i kno I use the settings for planes when i make my planes and they work great.

This is my first attempt at the run and attack flcs. I stopped doing this months ago because it was during finals for summer school (I want to graduate somewhat ontime).
I know they look a bit jumpy and I think I'll redo them at a later time, but be kind, this is my FIRST ATTEMPT.

On a side note, the US Air Force wants to put me in a hole in the ground somewhere in Wyoming or North Dakota and entrust me with a couple of nuclear missles, is that not funny or what??

That is certainly a bad idea. Anyone who plays Civilization is most definately numbed to the usage of nuclear weapons. I'd give five minutes before WWIII started. ;)

Your futuristic tank looks absolutely gorgeous . . . especially the camo. Wow.

Actually I've had Civ3 for a year now and I've only used nukes in 2 games. Once to see what would happen and just only on my most recent game of mass regicide. I just dont like fooling with the polution.

When I made the tank a few years back, these were my inspiration:

Yes, they are great:) Is there a scenarion that uses all that great futuric units??

I think a mod was made a long time ago, but it has not been updated so it does not include the units made the last month´s.

I'm redoing all the animations so they will be more detailed and not as jumpy. Im really getting the hang of making these things. The only hurdle is just those damn color pallettes.
