Curse my crazy sleeping problems, I missed it :(.

Well, I can make it to the next one...

...so long as it is between Thurs - Sat. Do any of you still have February vacations off? (IIRC, the school district I graduated from got rid of theirs not to long ago and unsure if any of our other posters still has them).

Aaaaah!

To your eternal torture, I love being a Pyro :D

Somehow playing as pyro is tricky itself where you have to get close enough to your enemy to flame them and still give them the afterburn.

Whenever I play pyro, even though I unlocked backburner I still use the original flamethrower... Because I love to throw people with the air-pump thing, or return rockets to sender. But yeah, considering I have these 37 hours as Scout and then less than 4-5 hours with all other classes, I'm not so good with the other ones. Especially spy and engineer and medic. I hate playing as these. That's why I always say "we need more engies" or "we need more medics" and never actually switch myself, I suck at them, and I don't like it at all, except on certain maps.

That is the joy. To find a group of enemies and hurl yourself into the middle, just to set them alight is the main objective of the pyro. Killing them is a nice bonus :D

I was working, so I missed the event.

And I love the pyro. Theres just something so amusing about setting things on fire. Especially with my beloved backburner.

It's ridiculous and preposterous.

That sums up the 2 Many Customizations server perfectly.

I do like the rtd feature. Except that I kept slaying myself with it...

EDIT: Here's a few screenies I took.

Kan dominating me, and then promptly dying so I can't screenshot him for evidence.

Whoh, thats twice I saw myself on the scoreboard! :run:

Looking at these screenshots... Did you guys choose your team (so that you'd be with other CFC members' team)? I dunno, I always let the game throw me in a team (auto select team). Maybe that's why I always got put in the team with nobody I knew.

I really only play with my friends.
When I do, I like to be on the same team as them.
So I pick the same team as them.

Also, the regular flamethrower is better than the backburner. Random crits > 100% crits in the back if you can do it right, especially since you get an air compression blast.

But I liked the backburner more when it gave you that 50 hp boost. :p

That's cos you don't know how to play with the backburner, or don't want to put in the effort to ambush people from behind. :p (I am leery of making all-purpose panacea statements, really, and think that each has its appropriate uses.) Backburners are killer, especially if you're on D and maneuver behind a gaggle of attacking players...instant death. Playing pyro+backburner is like playing spy, really, except you don't get the benefit of cloaking and disguising.

Ambush is the way to go as pyro. Sneak in behind the enemy and get guaranteed crits while taking minimal damage to yourself in as little time as possible.

Yep, always has been and always will be the right way to do things.

It [is] a pleasure to burn.

The problem with ambushing is that there are lots of areas on maps where it doesn't work that well. It can be a bit conditional.
Well, yeah, each class has disadvantages in certain areas or circumstances. Nobody's going to pretend that the pyro is a perfect multirole class to play. Too, even in wide open areas pyros can get advantages...there's more room to maneuver, so if you're adept enough you can use other distractions (like an attack by your teammates, for example) to attract attention long enough to permit a rear assault by you.

I usually try to stick to the team other CFCers are on, but there's been a couple of times I've put myself on the opposing team on purpose. Can't burn you all if we're allied

That's when I go into suicide rush mode with my axe :)

having played the backburner and flamethrower extensively, I'd rather utilize my flamethrower, since i think, it gives an edge vs other pyros:

Scout is a counter to demomen actually, I hate demos too.

I think it's not that great of a counter, really. It depends on the circumstances. Demomen like to put a bunch of stickies in bottleneck areas and wait (which is another reason I don't play demomen and ambushing-pyros, I just don't like to wait, it's lame), the scout's only chance is try to sneak in and out of the bottleneck hoping to trigger the demoman to explode his stickies, or run quickly enough to outpace the explosion, that works about 1/3 of the time. Agreed, once you get past a sticky field, you can pretty much kill a demo rather easily... But even then, in an open field with a strafing demoman who somehow gets a critical grenade every 3 times he hits the trigger, you can get killed half the time by splash damage of crit stickies. I find soldiers and heavies actually much easier to kill for a scout than a demoman who just lays fields of stickies, I mean, I only have 125 health.

Then the scout's role is to capture points and they're suddenly quite pointless if the point is covered in stickies and the demoman is hiding somewhere, usually under the cover of sentries, which are always around points. So there, you can't do anything once again.

You can shoot the stickies with your guns, except for some reasons the hits seem to register only once out of 3 times. The pistol needs to be able to contain more bullets. There's no way the demoman can't just replenish what you're shooting off.
