I want the best for last.
When I boot Steam, it usually has a pop up with news about Valve or sales on their Steam system.
I might add that another part of today's message had to do with them updating their machines (18 months rotation they say) so that their computers fit what most of their players are using (there is a survey system where you can send your computer's info). It was rather depressing or scary to see that they were letting go of their present machines, which were a bit less powerful than mine, and getting new ones that are insane (like 12 gigs of RAM, what?). Jaaaayzsus, 12 gigs of RAM represents the average gamer?

IMO, with the average computers at this time usualy carry 3-5GBs of RAM on a prebuilt system. I suspect the users of a 12GB RAM system is a hard core gamer. (I'm fortunate to have a system that I can upgrade when needed)

12 gigs is rather useless. I get along just fine with TWO.
Yeah, I have 4 and doing real good. I was just thinking that if they decide to switch to 12 to develop their games, um, my computer's lifetime might have been reduced if I want to play cutting edge games.

EDIT: They won't be developing for 12 gigs, hardly anyone has that much and unless it is a server, or you are going to highly intensive graphics and other stuff you don't need 8.
I can't find anything on their site about upgrading their computers.

I can't see anything on Steam about 12 gig computers either (tho all I did was check the news page).
Clearly they're not going to be developing games for systems with 12 gigs of RAM however, that's ludicrous, and if I read that I would simply assume it was a typo. No current game needs more than four gigs, tops, and even that's somewhat excessive.

Yeah, but in a year and a half we might see 4-8 gigs if not more I guess.

Not likely. Well maybe 4 yes. I've had 2 gigs for a year and still playing new games on max.

I bought a new computer three months ago for £500 (reduced from £600) and it has 4 GB of RAM. Only problem is that I have an integrated graphics card.

Yeah, I doubt anyone is going to be releasing any games in the next eighteen months that require more than 3 GB to run acceptably well.
Hey, Scout update is out, I guess I misread something again or read the wrong line. Woohoo. Now everybody must be a scout in game. It's like having your favorite restaurant suddenly flooded with an annoying crowd on an evening you wanted to chill out.

I do love having the double jump achievement on the HUD, so it dings every time you double jump.
Oh, that was fun. That was the first achievement I got tonight. And now that I've got the third Milestone, I'm going to bed. It's 0517 hours and I have an exam tomorrow. Damn, but that was awesome though.
