CG1: Monarch Domination Variant

Ok! But are we allowed to capture athens?

CGannon64, was the rule:
Only capture cities on the mainland after that civ has no island cities , or was it only capture cities on the mainland after all the island cities are taken?

Let me clarify the rule:

- we cannot accept flips or bribes on the mainland, nor can we capture cities or recapture cities on the mainland. We can only have the cities WE founded (without them capturing) on the mainland

- We can take cities by any means on the outer islands.

- The ONLY time we can take or retake a city on the mainland is IF we have every tile on the outer islands and STILL no domination.

So, for an example: we cannot capture Athens, or Rome, or any other mainland city. If we lose Pasargadae, we CANNOT recapture it. But we can capture any foreign cities on the outer islands (as I did on my turn).

I forgot this:

Are you there?

Sorry for taking so long, some of the University subjects are a bit more difficult than expected:

990 AD(0): Well, I'm afraid our rep is ruined, somehow we broke a deal with Greece and Japan... Moved catapults in an attemp to bombard Athens. I know they basically do nothig but I have to try.
Invention to Japan for Republic, WM and 70 gold.
(1): Bactra revolts. Too many guys in an unconnected city. Plan to unload some inmortals in the West Island.
(2): Granted, our 2 catapults do nothing in Athens. Micromanaged Antoich to get the Aqueduct sooner, and Arbela to grow, after all the granary gives us nothing if we get no surplus food.
Traded incense to China for 8 gpt, seems a lot in this game ;)
(3): Inmortals ordered in Arbela after Granay is done. Our catapult hurts enemy Hoplite, maybe that can help Zululand to take it..
Persepolis now size 7.
(4):Well, Zulus killed an Hoplite, but that is not enough. Just noticed Ergilli existed because it revolts
Rushed some stuff in faraway cities, cheap enough.
(5): Going to settle near Sidon, if only to fill more room and get free military support.
(6): Greeks willing to give EVERYTHING for peace, but I don't want to break the Military Alliance. 2 Inmortals sent to Gordium.
(7): Zululand break the Alliance and sign peace with Greece, then call us deal-breakers! of course, they are FURIOUS with us.
well, at least we got Theology and a slave. Still, I'm so mad at Shaka that I told him to go out of my borders. He refuses, so a longbowman and a Elite horseman die.
(8): China demands horses, but I'd rather eat my shoes than let them build riders. No war declared, of course.
We go to Ulundi, think we are gonna show them not to backstab. Inmortals unloaded in Gordium.
(9): tile pillaged near Ulundi, th Zulu can't really do anything againts us.
(10): Moved a little deeper in Zululand. there's barely any resistance, so I think we can go as far to Bapedi, then ask Shaka for techs in exchange of peace. They are Republic, so probably they won't like the way WW hits them. We also have some extra happinnes due to Zulu attack. Samaria will expand next turn, and should lower its big flipping risk. I really look forward for Xinjian and Cumae flipping to us, but we may also think about an invasion.
Last, 2 or 3 workers are fortified in Parsagadae, just cleared last jungle and irrigated it.

Go ahead Erik!! should be piece of cake to scare the zulu to death ;)

EDIT: How can I be so stupid???? I attached the wrong file!!! the good one is the one that is from 1090 AD!!!

Good job, Evincar. We seem to be at war constantly! If not for these variant rules, we would probably have conquered Greece, Zulu, and Rome already.

Yay! Way to go!
I hope we get a lot of islands filled in soon... hmmm... what if another civ wipes out enemy cities on homeland? *innocent smile*

Nice job Evincar!:goodjob:
I plan to scare the zulu to :nospam: rather than death. :jump:

1090: Review the empire.
1100: Immortals and pikes built at home. Culture expansion at Samaria. 2 vet galleys attack a zulu galley and lose.
110: The evil zulu galley dies! We have an elite galley!
Interturn: A longbow promotes a pikeman.
1120: The catapults miss.
1130: China starts Copernicus. ZUluland pilaged of iron.
1140: A japanese spearman moves through our territory.
1150: Zohak founded on some island.
Iinter: Chinese Galleon appears on Ergili Island!
1160: Pillage more zulu land.
1170: Istakhr founded by a goodyhut. The Parthians give us maps of the region.
Rome completes Sun Tzu. Cascade. I lose a galley to Treacherous Waters.
1180: Persepolis builds settler, starts Sistine.
I: Xinjian Culture flips!
1190: Galley set on goto.
1200: Wake the galley. It is to be sent to the island east of zululand with a wheat and 2 cattle.

Warning: The other civs except Greece have Education and Gunpowder and Astronomy. Nobody has chivalry yet, though...

(1) Catapults fail :( some pillaging

(2) Dyes and incense to China for 11 GPT, buy Edu for 350 Gold straight. Theo to japan, get 30 Gold and WM.

(3) Catapults damage Musketman and fail.

(4) same. Jinjan founded.

(5) Zulu ask for peace, but are unwilling to give Gunpowder.

(6) hit Colosseum in Zimbabwe :D found Vinland - we have Wines! found Borazjan, too.

(7)

(8) 2 hits on Zimbabwes population. Wines pillaged. ROP with Greece prolonged. Zulu longbowman killed. We get Chivalry - I ship it around for quite some Gold down and around 15 GPT. Get Gunpowder for it and peace from Zulu. Noone can build knights except Zulus, btw.... Buy Temple in Vinland.

(9) Shaka the Idiot signs ROP with us.... now he'll never get to hook up his horses again.... but they get their iron back :( There is a saltpeter source next to Zimbabwe - block it with Catapult. Lots of troops needed to deny res to Zulu :( since the Horses still have roads.

Sorry have not been home all weekend...will not be around until Monday Afternoon

Don't worry about it Dredd. Anyway, here is my report:

(0) I notice that strange Japanese spearman sitting in our territory. What is he doing here? Anyway, it seems that Mao is the
only one to have a tech advantage (Banking, Astro) over us. I consider trading with him, but he won't budge. We could change
our tech rate to 4gpt, Printing Press in 13. I decide against it, because I figure we are in min sci for a reason: to trade.

(1) Gulaman revolts. I am confused about our resource blockade in Zululand: an Immortal is fortified on an empty hill? Whatever
it was, I move him south one, on top of their iron. I wake a Pikeman and send him to Vinland (that place is a MASSIVE flip risk)
and keep a catapult in his place. Everything else seems OK on our blockade. China still won't talk.

(2) Some worker production and some micromanagement. I don't understand China! They won't accept 65gpt! But wait: our rep is
ruined! I forgot about this...time to get off min sci. Printing Press in 12 at 1gpt.

(3) Sparta builds Library, set for Granary. More worker production.

(4) Pasargadae and Arbela finish Marketplace and Cathedral, start Pikeman and Settler respectively. I lower science so we can
get a little more gpt.

(5) Now Rome has Astro. Hopefully Printing will help us even this out.

(6) Lots of worker production. We seem to have lots of left over workers, all of our main island and our large west island are done.

(7) Ghulaman riots again. More worker production. A few of our outer islands finish stuff.

(8) Settler built in Arbela and an island town. Worker production.

(9) I'm forced to fortify some workers, they have nothing to do!

(10) Bactra revolts. They will be stuck at six, but they don't have an aqueduct, so it won't really matter. Just please
micro this later. Take the galley in Roman territoy and send it to a northern island of your choice.

Nothing too amazing happened, wasn't a very exciting set. And the save:

They had a worker out on the iron building a road before I could get there :( but I kept the Immo there to be able to move in once we have the opportunity.

Ok, I guess Erik is overdue and Killer is passing. I will take the next turns and post soon.
