Good luck!

I would recomend getting our towns into cities soon, as that will add to unit support. Unit support was a major reason why I didn't switch to republic, and why I hesitated leaving despotism, however, we are gaining about the same amount of GPT as we were when we were Iron Fist rulers.

I second this. Unless we get more cities, or more towns, unit support is going to hit us hard. If we want this huge upgrade, we'll need money!

Good luck swiftsure. :D

:aargh: somehow, this is one of the threads that do NOT show in the user cp for me.......

If i do NOT respond, please e-mail me.....

If I'm correct, w/out Leonardo's Workshop, this upgrade will be 20 gold per swordsman, and 80 gold per horseman... That's a lot of gold... We can hardly afford the horseman upgrade, so I'd advise mostly getting infantry, not cavalry (and no, not the units literaly named infantry and cavalry).

Good idea, Hygro. Nice avatar, too. :)

Thanks. I've been wanting this avatar for a while, and with the PtW avatars up, I don't need to wait for 300 posts.

Is our tech level the same as when I stopped? I'm curious to see what our gold and technology is at this point.

Russia and Korea declaring war shouldn't be a problem at all; as you can see, we are just upgrading our units by defending our homelands.

As soon as fuedalism is learned we are a powerful force--I'm wondering, should we wait for chivalry? I guess because we have so many horsemen, but I feel that chivalry might happen too far in the future.

I see we started war earlier than expected. As long as we have sufficient forces, its fine. :)

Wang must fall! :D

Ok, I just thought of a few things:

1) As long as Wang is without fuedalism, using our Swords against Spears will be more effective then Medieval Infantry against Pikes.

2) Not only will size 7 cities produce double unit support (which we are way over), it will also produce about 3 commerce per city square, as we are commercial. Thats a lot more GPT.

Although right now the immediate situation calls for ships and invaders, I think aqueducts will help immensely.

need clarification of rules: have taken Souel, town is size 5 now, 2 content with three entertainers, but starving, or going to riot with no starvation. What to do?

Sorry for my sudden and unexpected absence. My computer had a full meltdown yesterday, and as a result, I had to delete everything on my hard drive and reinstall ME. I just got the internet up and running a few minutes ago. Without all my games, all my programs, and all my projects/homework, I'm going to have alot to do in the next few weeks, and very little time to play SGs, let alone Civ. So consider me dropped out. :( Hope to be back when the computer stabilizes...if ever...;)

oh wow thats harsh. I guess I won't really be seeing you much in the RepGame either huh.

I'm afraid if we do that we won't finish it. However, I am in favor of that, but Killer, how about you finish your turn.

preturn: nothing

(1) Zulu offer 6 Gold and TM for WM - why not, we need all the money we

can get. We have 7 Swordsmen to attack Seoul, backed up by 4 Mercenaries.

Quick calculation: 7 * 3 = 21, 4 defenders at 2 = 8 * 3 (as all are regular) = 21 --> attack barely feasible. The Mercenaries may have to wipe out 1 HP defenders. Only two of them are vet, but that should do - I attack.
1st Sworseman wins (2 HP left)
2nd Swordsman wins (1 HP left)
3rd Swordsman wins (2 HP left)
4th Swordsman wins (2 HP left)
another Spearman shows up
5th Swordsman wins (1 HP left)
another defender :aargh:
6th Swordsman wins (3 HP left)
and another defender!!!!!
decide to NOT attack with mercenaries - who knows how many more Spearmen there are. Bring in Swordsmen from Wonsan.

(2) Korea starts the hanging Gardens - whatever! The one Swordsman who reached Seoul last turn attacks and takes the city We control the Great Lighthouse and the Collossus now!
Land a ferw troops next to Pyongsong - I don't want spoiling attacks against our galleys from there. Also, I want Korea unable to reach our mainland easily. 1 Mercenary moves past Seoul onto hill and fortifies to block counterattacks, Horseman in sight. Rest of attacker stack moves into town to quell resistance ASAP. Utica starts a Galley - want to use Lighthouse as long as we have it.....
take garrison out of Wonsan - the way I know Civ3 it will flip now that I have no troops next to it for immediate retake....

(3) indeed! Wonsan flips. Pyongson falls, taking 1 swordsman along. A Galley deposits 1 Sword 1 Horse next to Wonsan. risk it on not - I can't really decide if I should take our troops out of Seoul. The healthy ones advance on P'yongyang.

(4) I luck out! We get Currency, quell all but 1 resistor in Seoul (disorder), 2 Horsies die attacking Seoul, one retreats from our troops in the field.
I decide NOT to attack Wonsan as it has two defenders at least (1 free 1 rushed), making it defence 2*3*2=12 while attack is 3+3+2=8. (I know this is a rough foruma, but it works usually). Land lots of horsemen there and 2 in Seoul. Healed Swordsmen leave Seoul.

(5) a Horseman kills one of our Swordsmen in the open. Why oh why can't the 2 HP Mercenary defend - I hate Civ3. Seoul starves as resistor gives up (I used auto-happiness here so I would stick to the rules). We get Wonsan back - but it costs us 3 Horsemen. ****ing towns on hills And only resistors in the town! utica starts Aqueduct as Galley heads out to explore.

(6) 3 Swordsmen take P'yongyang, Galley sunk, 6 resistors.

(7) with no instructions, I decide to starve Seoul to happiness (after all, I'm not starving it against flips, only enough so it's not in disorder). Can build FP now.
graph.jpg
says it all.....

move some Swords to hill next to Seoul (in case of flip), empty town except for 1 hurt Sword, same for Wonsan. Troops approach Namp'o, fortify troops in P'yongyang.

(8) 4 HP Sword, fortified, is killed in P'yongyang by attacking reg Horseman . 2 HP merc kills second Horsie. Map'o cost us 1 Swordsman, only two defenders. Now we have spices, thus happiness better in Korea.

Kill 1 HP Horseman, retreat troops into P'yongyang, advance with second group into hills near Pusan. Kill 2 exposed Horsemen, losing 1 Sword

(9) Russian Galleys show up. Korea lands a warrior next to Namp'o. Russia pays 20 Gold for peace :D, the Warrior is mincemeat. The Horseman (who just took Namp'o and is down to 3 HP) performs so well their capitain Mago is hailed as a great leader. He hurries to safety on the hill next to Seoul (thinking Pusan as Forbidden City here).

(10) kill a Horseman, Pusans citizen now for the first time lay eyes on our magnificent armies before their city's gates :mwaha:

(11) P'yongyang deposes - good thing I kept it empty. no surprise with 6 resistors who survived two turns with 5 troops int the city.... Bapedi builds the Hanging Gardens. P'yongyang has only 4 resistors despite size 5  Pusan has 6 at size 6 - what *******s. And the 4 defenders cost us 2 Swordsmen. Well, while I'm at it I kill the Spear on the 1-tile chokepoint and put a merc there, then kill exposed Archer. Put as many troops as possible into newly conquered cities to quell resisters.

(12) run a risk, rush FP in Pusan (down to 3 resisters).

(13) FP completed. Buy harbor in Seoul. Troops advance into Korea.

(14) Kill 1 Horesman.

(15) Loose 1 Horseman.

(16) The arduous siege of Cheju is hailed in the press as an example of great leadership, especially Captain Hanno is mentioned. The truth is that losses are horrible (4 Swords).

(17) Our intrepid advance on Hyangsan catches workers from korea unawares. 3 more slaves who will work for the glory of our empire.

(18) The Horseman who took the workers defends against Archer. This side of Persia, there is no more Korea :D, losses light. Theri capital removes onto Zulu island. Next target: Persia, then Korean mainland cities, then maybe get peace.

Alright! Xsin is next, but he seems to missing, CG is after him, and he's going to be gone. Then it's me again.

And, unless dissent is voiced, the game is on hold.
