Changes to Insta Heal?

Indeed. It wouldn't make much sense to introduce healing to promotions. Why would they introduce a semi-insta-heal to all promotions, when insta-heal is seen as a problem?

It seems definite that it's simply a change in the insta-heal ability, which is great news.

Didn't Civ 4 give you "health" when you got promoted but there was no insta heal?
 
They wanted this to be a trade-off. You could either get a promotion or heal not both. The idea is, generally, you should promote, but it might be too risky.

Agreed, and I always choose Insta Heal, and leave promotions aside, as I usually play with "Save Promotions for later".
 
I rarely instaheal. It might be possible that it's too good relatively speaking that you don't choose the other option. That being said, the double attack is really good and instaheals do set that back.
 
I agree with Louis. Perhaps 1 in 10 promotion I use insta-heal but getting Logistics/Blitz is just too good not to get. Going from Level 2 to Level 3 and then to 4 can take some time and insta-heal at level 3 (for example) can ruin the unit's chance at double-shotting.
