I have noticed that during the turnly election cycle. That we lose some people due to the lack of interest. Take for example, a Newbie who is interested in persuing in a government possition would have to wait a long time in order to get his name on the ticket. For others who have lost an election would have to wait a long time also to return to office.
I beleve that we should think about changing the Eection cycle from turnly to a calender format like the SPDG.

Hmm, I have decied to change my stance on this subject. Boots has convised me that a Turnly Cycle is good but shortened.

I think that the Election cycles should happen once every 25th turn of the save.

25 turns sounds like a great idea to me. We never got around to a new government that everyone agrees on...

I think everyone would agree that terms should be shorter.

I still do believe that term lengths should be kept at their current lengths. The longer a person stays in office, then (hopefully) the more experience they gain in that office.

Besides, each election churns things up here. We still do need more consistancy.

I think we should shorten the terms to 25 turns as well. The Term 3 elections were held in July, now we're holding the Term 4 elections in November. I really think we should shorten these terms down to 25 turns, to make the game more appealing to people without elected positions.

I will support the 25 turn rule as well.

So will I. It's really hard for a newbie or even a more experienced player to get into the government if the elections are being held so far apart of each other...

I am for the 25 turns

It seems to me that, given the current pace of the game, we could make it every 10 turns and it'd probably be the same as holding them every month.

Seriously though, I doubt that shortening the length of the terms will do much harm. Personally, I think churning things up every so often around here could be a good thing. If people are tuning into this thread more often (for whatever reason), we might actually get some helpful contribution on how to play the game.

Actually thats a good point, 25 even isnt that short.

Lets go 20 or even 15. I dont want 10 though.

I would go with 25-30 turns. Any less would have us focusing on the next election much too soon. And to me this game is more about staying competitive with the other teams than overusing our right to vote.

I agree with Donovan Zoi here. 25 turns is good enought. 30 turns is better still.

Actually, does a MSDG newbie (me?) have a chance in the upcoming elections, or will you vote each other because you've been longer together? Time will tell...

If elections were more frequent you'd have a better chance of getting in (not saying you don't right now, but I think you'd have better chances)

Excactly. And that is because elections held more often> more elections> more chances to get into the gov't.

25 is good. If it is shorter, it's too short, as you wouldn't really have time to keep the office up, as elections would be so soon again.

I can see everyone pretty much agrees to this proposal. I am new at modifying/adding rules. What is the next step?

I believe we should poll this, don't you think? Something like:

How long should our terms be?

10 turns
20 turns
25 turns
30 turns
45 turns

These were pretty much the only options mentioned, so I think that the poll should only include these. Also, we will obviously need to get this settled before Turn 136. ;)

Any thoughts?

My thought is poll it, though I think we are going to end up with 25 turns.
