Charles Barkley for Governor

I really like Charles Barkley. Probably one of my favorite pro athletes, precisely because he was always more than just a pro athlete, and always made a lot of sense when talking.
Remember his "I'm not a role model" ads? He was dead right.

I certainly think he should try for political office.

That said, his intervention on CNN was not exactly one of his best moments. He needs to work on that.
 
For Alabama? Yeah, good luck with that....

I dont even care if he wins it or not. the effort is worth it alone. think about how many freaking classic barkley sound bites will develop from this.
 
How about Jimmy Kimmel pretending to be Karl Malone? I'd vote for him.
 
I could have sworn Sir Charles was a republican. I remember this conversation he had with his mom

I think he's hysterical though, and love watching him on TNT. If he was on C-Span or CNN more often, all the better!

Working on his candidacy will be an even more depressing and failure filled task than working on marketing the Sega Dreamcast.

I must respectfully disagree with you on this. Professional athletes do have a responsibility to be good role models. Actually, I would say all "celebrity" types do, but I fear that is just too much to ask of most of the self-centered boobs.

Pshaw, anyone that has an athlete as a role model is high. In fact I would say only 2 athletes should be role models. EVER. Secretariat and Andre the Giant. they both had a lot of heart!

It's nice when pro athletes are also good role models, but they don't have to. And it's unfair to blame them when they don't live up to your expectations. They're just athletes, it's not their fault that society is in desperate needs of role models because parents have simply given up on raising their kids.

And come to think of it, Barkley is my role model for saying he's not a role model! :crazyeye:
