After speeking to Dell19 about Pellaken taking his job, and a few other things......we thought that chat sessions would be a good idea.

Once weekly the cabinet would meet to discuss matters of state. But after every turn, (2-3 days) we would have a 30-60 minute public meeting. Where cabinet members would be and regular members could be.

It wouldn't be a manitory meeting....just recommended.

I can host a chat at 9 PM EST (2 AM GMT), and Dell19 has agreed to host a chat at 5 PM GMT. The text from each chat would be posted on the forum so those who can't attend can still read later.

We are still trying to find a free, and easy to use program....so if anyone has any suggestions. Or has a chat server that is free....just let us know. :)

Once we find a suitable chat program it wil be important that people do participate and in an organised fashion. People will have to be orderly and take it in turns to post messages without people just posting a few random comments.

The conversations should last around an hour so everyone should have a chance to speak. If there is enough demand then more sessions can be created, extended or created at different times.

Chat sessions will be great to get information moving quicker and hopefully reduce communication errors. We have 15 days till the next elections and have only just made the first moves so we should at try and get this chat idea to work.

Couldn't we just use the civfanatics chat? I've checked that chat a few times and there's just noone in there (maybe I just checked at the wrong time.....)

I didn't want to use CFC chat for that reason. Besides the fact that no one uses it...t's not private, and everyone can use different programs to access it. Plus we can't copy the logs...

That's why I wanted to use a common program, so everyone is on equal ground. And also easy to use/administer.

I use AOL instant messenger for chats all the time in MP games Corn, and it has an archive.

MSN messenger also has a chat feature and arrchive.

I found an awesome program. Called Chat Anywhere. All I have to do is set up the server...and give you the IP and port. Like this: http://209.149.17.92:8080/ You type it into your browser...enter your CFC name...and voila. We are chating. :)

It's soooooo simple!!!

Works with IE, Netscape, and Opera!

Anywho...the IP and port can change with each login....so I'd have to post the IP before the meeting.....but anyway. The next meeting will be tomorrow at 9 PM EST. I'll post the IP when we get closer to the time!!

This meeting will be AFTER the turn is completed. So I can explain what happened...and we can get started for the next turn. :)

Sounds about right and that is why we expect to have another meeting at 5 GMT or maybe later on some days. Perhaps we have a second meeting tomorrow at 5 GMT? After the meeting at 2 GMT.

What like at 5 GMT...? Or do you want to hold a session earlier. We could keep on adding chat sessions until we ended up having meetings all the time but then we would have the same problem, with users comming only when it suits them (will become spread out). I think the maximum would be three sessions in one day but we could change the sessions.

Also on the European moderator thing, I don't think there is one...

Volunteers to run a possible third chat meeting and for back up are welcome as well.

I gotta be offline at 11pm on days when there's school, and I can stay on longer on days when there isent. only one problem, I live in the atlantic time zone, meaning, thats 10pm NYCtime. after 10pm I can still stay online, but I gotta type slowley.... long story.

5PM gmt should be... uh... 1 pm here.... :(

if these are on saturday, that'd be GREAT. otherwise... :(

WhOAH Pellaken, calm down.

It is easy to get in... Go to CFC chat, and wait for a while. You will then see a button to go in. CLick it. Then, you type your name and nickname! SIMPLE<<<<

So keep cool:)
