I assume Tithe is only good if the cities are guaranteed to keep growing, while Church Property is good all around because this is per every city following your religion. Any opinions or suggestions are welcome.

What I'm going for, or looking for in an answer, is what is more likely to make more money?

If those are the real benifits then church property is better for any city under 8 people. They are even at 8 pop, and tithe is better at 12+

true, but too simple.

If you can get 8 followers * possible cities converted +4 followers, then Tithe wins.

Church Property requires you to have majority religion in the city for the +2. Tithe doesn't.

My last game as Byzantines I used church property and by the end of the game I was making over 160gpt from religion alone. I would have made more had I focused on missionaries and GP's more because while my entire continent was Christian, I was making slow headway into the other continent which was home to 4 other religions!

That being said, I'm going to try Tithe next text as I think that will end up being a better choice.

They are both great, and you can get both as Byzantium!

It really comes down to 'tall' vs 'wide.' If your Civ and Civs you convert are tall, then the gold / population will likely be best. A wide Civ will benefit more from gold / cities. I would say go with gold / population if you can't / won't focus on spreading your religion very far, because the amount of gold will continue to increase as your population grows, even though you aren't founding new cities. If you plan to try to push your religion around the world, gold / cities might be better.

At the end of the day, Tithe has the potential to earn more gold if you convert lots of high-population cities. But Church Property is probably easier since you get a decent bit of gold regardless of city size.

I feel Tithe is better, just count the followers that's all. You get more gpt late-game. Of course if you wanna be a rich Byzantine mofo you could just choose both

I chose both with Byzantine. Since I founded the first religion and managed to spread it across the entire continent like wildfire, I wound up getting some pretty absurd GPT after a while xD

I think it depends how patient you are. If you play a long game, then +1/4 followers will end up giving you the better return, because cities (and your religion) have time to grow into a +160 gpt bonus. Short of hitting 80 cities, 2 gold/city won't reach that.

On the other hand, if you want the bonus quickly, 2 gold/city has a larger initial return, though tops out sooner.

Personally, agree with consensus. Why choose?

I usually run with Tithe for the gold and the enhancer that makes it spread faster.
