City Placement 3

this thread is to discuss where the next city/cities should be built. Im doing this as a favor for the domestic department and i agree that this is an issue that should be resolved. And as it states any citizen can post a discussion. Debate away!

Its for them all. Its just a discussion for any city placement regardless. id add a map but im working on that part, maybe fortyj could place his up here, but this is just a single definitive place to debate where cities should be placed

Before I suggest anything, id like to say this: nice patch
now, for my opinion.
The active settler is going to build Octavianum, presumably in the area between the Game and the Cow. The on queue settler will form Penguin 3S of Barvaria.
I propose, during the taking of Azteca, we head North, towards the Fur. Since we are yet to discover currency, we have no marketplaces. So, having various lux. will help. Go 1N from the Game near Valhalla. Then continue heading north. Meanwhile, we clean up Azteca, adding cities to fill gaps.
Sugestions? Comments? Things other then Donsig saying I was never elected ?

I think the general consensus for placement of the first city is either W-SW-SW of Bavaria or W-W-W of Bavaria. I'd be happy either way (just as long as we don't postpone building it). I'd also like to hear arguments for one location or the other so that the citizens have a better change of making an informed decision.

Well, for one reason, placing the city 3 tiles west of Bavaria would keep it from taking any tile usage away from Bavaria. Why purposely cripple the Capital? For another, placing it where CT wants to place it takes away a tile that has already been bought and sold in the RPG end of the game. The RPG player that just bought the tile would lose half the purchase price to the city.
But, I also think that Penguin should be placed under the game (above the cattle) which would evenly use the bonus tiles after expansion. This was all laid out weeks ago, when chiefpaco was here. It is not a new item.

[rant]WHY ARE WE MIXING THE RPG WITH THE GAMEPLAY!!![/rant] The RPG should not directly affect the outcome of the game. Indirectly, yes, but RPG players should not be able to hinder the actual game!

I agree with CT, the impact of a game move on RPG should not be a consideration at all.

Nevertheless, I agree with with the 3 tiles west position for the reasons noted by Cyc regarding tile useage.

So let's leave out that reason. I knew it wouldn't fly. Just thought I'd make everyone aware. Here's a map with the cities that I proposed quite some time ago (without the names).

Kind of funny who slow response can be on these forums unless the notion of an idea that directly opposes your concept of the demogame pops up.

I second Cyc's proposal. All the cities have good spacing, and adaquate access to execellent local resources.

On another note, that map looks strange. I guess I haven't seen the original Civ3 graphics for a long time.

And one last thing:rant:, its Octavinium.
Please get the spelling correct.
