Opening Argument from Chairman Pasternak

Greetings, men and women of the Metro Soviet. As you know, the subject of this meeting is to discuss the formation of a police force for our Soviet. Right now, due to the lack of a central authority, the city is home to lawlessness and chaos in the streets. Criminal activity is at an all time high and there appears to be no force capable, or willing, to stop it. If we are to bring prosperity to the city and its citizens we must first bring order. However, this order will not appear out of thin air, so we must take steps to enforce it. That is why I call for the formation of a police force for our Soviet. The people's well-being depends on it.

I will not lie, this plan is not cheap. Roughly $15,000 will have to be spent on the training, arming, and paying of these twenty men. However, every dollar spent will be well worth it, as it will ensure the safety and well-being of the men, women, and children of this city. For us to be an effective government for this city we must bring order and right now the only option is to start a police force. Once we curb lawlessness, then, and only then, will we be able to take measures to build up our city. Now, at the end of this meeting I would like to call a vote on this measure. But first, do any of you have arguments for or against it?

Response from the Council:
Silence, none wish to argue.

I don't know if this was made clear or not, but you actually need to submit orders for me to establish funds - at the moment, you're all considered to have whatever you didn't spend during sign-up.

Additionally, in order to keep this moving, any player who has not posted or contacted me in 48 hours will be dropped due to inactivity. Mind you, if you inform me of why you can't post in that time, that's fine, but if you just go AWOL for two days, I need to get this moving.

Does the social group count as posting? Because I'm posting there.

Mr. Ogilvie has, in light of no enthusiasm for credit at the current time, authorized company funds to be used to build Mettrade. Mettrade is a stock exchange and brokerage all in one, established to allow rich and poor alike to invest in the market and improve their future prospects.

With low commissions of but 1% or 5 dollars per trade, whichever is more, anyone can do business with Mettrade and make tidy profits, be their trades long-term and short-term.

Local businesses are always welcome to list themselves on the stock ticker to attract investment.

There is now a 20% sales tax. The purchasing of services, goods, construction, etc now has a 20% tax rate that goes to the city government.

Arrow Shipping Co. is strongly against such a movement. We demand a public vote, or we shall simply ignore the tax. It must be lowered significantly or destroyed. Communism is not our guiding principle, despite what the southeast would have you believe. Capitalism all the way.

You can choose not to pay the tax and we'll seize your assets.
