Hi, just have a few questions for you all. When I play the scenarios or chieftain, the players health bar actually works (ie goes down) but when I play a tougher difficulty it just shows the two troops going head to head with one dieing, no sign of health at all.

Is the health there and just not visible, or does it work differently?

You are experiencing simplified combat, which is one of the custom rules that you can play by (like choosing a flat world or not restarting eliminated players). When you start a game, make sure that the simplified combat box is not selected.

Is there any way to get the science advancements to stop after a certain advancement? I want to get the game to stop before the modern era, is there any way to do that?

For you, it is easy. Set science rate to zeo and turn all your scientists into taxmen. For all players the only way to do it is by designing a scenario giving everyone all or most of the techs you want and setting sciece multiplier high enough that few if any new techs will be discovered.

You could just kill everybody before you get to the modern era. But if you stop your tech, it's more likely that you'll be the one killed.

LOL no. Just go into the Rules file, make a bunch of techs un-researchable (it requires setting the prerequisites to "no" instead of "nil", right? Or the other way around?), and change Future Tech to require earlier techs as prereqs.

Ah, this is what I was looking for. So if I was to try to keep this game re-industrial age, what technologies should I void out?
