Has there even been any announcements of a Civ 4?
Otherwise, I fail to see the point of such a forum, other than providing an additional revenue for spam and needlessly distracting the mods?

then appoint newod to keep watch over it, considerint there wont be much in the wa y of posts there anyway ( in all likelness, at least I think...) it would be a good trainer for mods- specially new ones like moonsinger who you hardley see make any moderator moves

Civ3 has been out for years, and I still haven't gotten used to it. What's the point of having a Civ4 forum then?
A)I say they suck because I care
B) its like it would requrie a great deal of work- I know of another site opperating with the whole VBulletin thing with some cool looking forum "skins"- perhaps I could tell TF the site, and he could arrange to get them

CivFanatics has had two forums (General Discussions and Suggestions And Ideas) for Civ3 since day 1: oct 25th 2000. There's wasn't any news about Civ3, the only thing we knew was that it was in development, like Civ4 now. It wasn't until spring 2001 that Firaxis launched the first preview website about Civ3.
General Discussions was about empty, but Suggestions And Ideas was very interesting! I've seen a lot of ideas there that have been taken over (like having workers next to settlers).
The only thing I fear is that the forums for Civ4 will get spammed like hell since we now have 40000 members and almost nothing to say.

Matrix just came up with the BEST[/b[ reason to open up a civ4 forum- IDEAS!
sure the mods might have to crack down on spam- hell, just appoint some new ones, making sure there are some from all time zones- that way, the sub-forum has its own moderators (so Padma, Cheiftes, and all the other old mods can concentrate on there older forums) and there can be mods to "police" the new forum near constantley
the only thing they need to remember, is that obscenlly long posts about the history of world events is a must for justifacations of ideas that could be incorperate dinto the game- after all it is based on realhistory

2 Why am I getting the feeling that there is a hidden reason behind you wanting a civ4 forum?

1) read his post right above mine- I was expanding on the point he made, that point being-
as you can see, we, the people would have the opportunity to get exactley what we want in the game!
2)a hidden motive- if you count me wanting to influence the making of the sequal to what is my favorite game (and one of the only three that I still play), and getting things set straight on facts, and how civs should be portrayed, and represented, or at least, having the chance to influence that, then yes, i am a very sneaky character indeed

Personally, I think the need exists for a Civ 5 forum.
I agree about creating a Civ 4 forum. I actually read through the whole thread when it was 24 pages and that was a pain 
. Some subjects keep coming back and people have of course opinions about other peoples suggestions. And there is requests for a new forum in the thread as well.

Or does it mean that their about to plan the whole game out before they give it to the programmers?....
