Civ 4 Sucession Game Registration Thread!

We have two free slots in Ucel03 - crowded Monarch Terra with 16 civs.

Short version: Succession Game for training how to do city micro-managing.

Long version: I have lurked and watched several of these succession games, but I have never played in one. I have played ten full single-player games on various random settings up through noble level, but I know I am not getting everything out of the game that I can. Specifically, I watch the other succession games and all of the micro-managing (MM), turning this city to "no growth" and that city to "emphasize production," etc. I know that you are micro-managing even lower than that and moving citizens around and changing specialists, etc.

I hardly ever do that. I know I could be having a stronger game, and I am hoping that I can participate in a succession game that does a lot of micro-managing, along with the explanations of when and why and how this is done. Maybe the four players should be moderate newbies like me (I have played other Civ games and Alien Crossfire), and the lurkers and pros among you can have a good time flaming and critiquing us. :mischief: Or maybe we can get two newbies, along with two skilled micro-managers to keep us in line.

For a stake in the ground, I would propose:

Map: Continents
Size: TBD, probably in the middle.
Civilization: TBD, looking for suggestions to maximize the training.
Mods: Only the logging mod to make posting easier.
Players: 4 including myself.
Roster: Veritass, TBD, TBD, and TBD.

Post your thoughts over the weekend, and let's get started next week. Thanks. :goodjob:

I've been playing around with this one in private games, and I wanted to see if anyone was interested in such a thing.

- All flatland, non forest non resource tiles must be farmed if they can be.
- We must start with agriculture or research it immediately.
- Through some combination of great people, Oracle, and research we must get Civil Service asap. I'd be up for setting some hard and fast rules for what we could and couldn't do off the beeline if anyone has ideas. The way I've been working it in my private games has been to get Code of Laws with the Oracle, and then when the prophet comes in nab Civil Service. This precludes you from researching Masonry though, because that will open up Monotheism and then Theology.
- There will be another semi beeline to Biology, but I am unsure on how restrictive it needs to be. That is something else that would be up for discussion if anyone wants to play the game.

I have some other ideas, but I'd like to know if there is any interest before starting a thread. If there is, I'll open it and we can discuss. :)

I'd be interested - massive populations, lots of Great People, and lots of SLAVERY! Ahem, I mean Nationalism. Just so you know, I've only played above Prince once (which was winning Domination in the recent Monarch-level GOTM3), and it would be my first SG.

BTW, CTIV-2 and CTIV-3 (see sig) could use a few good people :salute: if you missed out on CTIV-6 and realllly wanted the CTIV experience :D

Looking for new players for CTIV-3. This is a Huge, Epic noble archipelago game, so make sure your computer can handle it before signing up.

The game is currently defined as Conquest Only (all victory conditions enabled), however, I am willing to change it to a Just Win Baby if it gets more players interested. We're at 1575 AD and we're doing well. We're also only taking 5 turns at a time so if you're looking for a game where you won't have to play for hours every time you're UP, this is the game for you.

Has anyone tried a focus for a succession game of making a society of Great Persons? Maybe a requirement that you can win on any style, but you have to have created at least twenty Great Persons, including at least three each of Great Artist, Great Scientist, Great Merchant, Great Prophet, and Great Engineer. Obviously this would have to be on a larger map and game where you could have several cities that were Great Person pumps. There is no requirement on what you use the Great Persons for, only that you must create a certain amount of them.

Is this even feasible (or possibly too easy and the numbers should be higher)? Which ruler should be chosen? I apologize that RL issues mean I cannot play this game, but I just had the idea and I thought someone else might want to run with it. I might try it for my next single game, and I wanted to see if anyone had input on it. Thanks.
