Civ 5 ... 22 crashes & fail to load as of today

Please, can someone help me to understand why the game doesn't load anymore ? I get the panel to choose between DX9 or DX10/11 but both leads to nowhere.

but today steam takes control over my machine too

when i try to start civ5 nothing happened after steam starts. if i try to start the world builder, i get this window



after i select "ja", to select a path, i get this window



Is this a joke or CIA? Goodbye

Thanks, I'm starting to think there is something wrong with steam too. Just tried the world builder while typing and I get the same result.

When I run Steam and click play from there I get a pop-up where it says it cannot synchronize the game to Steam Cloud. And the possibility to re-download the game is gone for now.

I've been trying to play offline but games crash as I get to 'Begin Your Journey'. Incredibly frustrating after reinstalling and d/l the latest patch.

First, clear the cache (delete everything in My Documents\My Games\Civ5\Cache) and try it then again.

After another evening without playing, i get the solution

1. open steam online
2. go to the library
3. right click on "Sid Meier´s...." on the left side
4. select properties
5. tab "local files"
6. check the integrity of the cache
7. send steam your bank account number and private junk
8. start a new game
9. go to sleep or watch tv

No, There was a steam platform update. It worked after it was done ! I'm not sure why I was screwed so long before it really started, but I'm sure it was on the Steam end.
