Civ 5: Likelyhood of release, likely date of release

Even Sid probably has only a vague notion. After all, right now the team is finishing up Civ:Rev, and there are some other things in the pipeline before Civ5 starts being developed in earnest. At most, he could probably say something like, "We're looking at late 2009", or whatever.

Perhaps not officially.

I will say that Sid and Barry made it clear to me that they intend to do Civ5. (When I visited Firaxis for the CivRev Preview.)

Ok, i know this is not official, but this will do for me, i think we can be quite sure to have a civ5 and will find out officially before the end of this year.

I don't know when it's coming out, but I do know that'll be about a year after that before I buy it; time to get the patches in and bugs out.

Can't we get Spore out before worrying on Civ 5?

...and I'm sure that Spore will slow down development of Civ5 (as nearly every game developer that I know will be playing it).
