Civ 5 - Sort of comfirmed

First I thought, it has to be the next x-pack. But they're talking next year. And this year only just started! So maybe it is Civ5. Or maybe it's some sort of spin-off: "Civilization: Armed and Ridiculous", the first first-person shooter ever based on a strategy game. *shudder*

It make me wonder if there will be an expansion pack at this point.Warlords was released just 7-8 months after civ4, if the xp in the best case would be released in 2008 it would be 1 and half year so or the next xp should be a mega xpack or i really see no point why so much time should be needed for to release it.

"You play the part of a "Warrior" wandering through the unexplored
wilderness, clubbing animals to death, entering mysterious little huts and
then running like b*stards away from scary a$$ muscular men clad in
leather and wielding large axes....exploring has never felt so visceral..."
...at a game store near you...from 2008"

Come on fellas, it'll be an another expansion pack won't it. :)

Cheers
Elras

Yeah, but it shows. There just really wasn't enough there to make it worth 30 bucks IMO. Perhaps this time around we will get a meaty XP. Look at PTW and Conquests. If this is an XP, it will probably follow the same pattern. Core game, dinky XP, bulk XP.

Exactly. :)

read this thread too. next year sometimes means late this year. they say "2008 fiscal year (which begins Nov. 1 2007)". i know i'm curious!

It says "will have new content based on its Civilization franchise". That doesn't necessarily mean the game will be an expansion of Civ IV, or will be Civ V. It could be something inspired by the Civ series such as that Civ City game or whatever it was called.

I'm glad they are working on "new content based on its Civilization franchise," but I'm really hoping we get another expansion pack before they move on to Civ V.

I've always dreamed of a turn-based strategy game in which you fight every battle FPS style or something. Heroes of Might and Magic comes close (and is actually quite good).

Also Medieval Total War 2 could be a good choice.IMO mixing tactical and strategic aspects makes alway games a bit too short on the strategic aspect.MTW has a nice map and so on but hasn't any complexity or strategy comparable to games like CIV4 or GC2

maybe they should take this time to make sure they don't release ANOTHER game that's completely bugged and CTD's on systems that have 2x the processing power to run the game.

i.e. mine.

Actually, that would be a second (the first being Command and Conquer:Renegade, which I've never actually played... but it exists!!)

Is there anything besides the one line there? I don't see anything but a single line with comments beneath it.

It's an MMORPG:

"Don't just play Rameses - be Rameses! You, too can lead the Golden Horde! Think that Kaiser Bill got a bad break? Believe that Tokugawa was misunderstood? Feel that Montezuma was actually a sensitive softie? Then rewrite history your way!

Civ V: just because it's history doesn't mean it's historical!

Legal Stuff:
Initial $49.95 initial price of Civilization V includes one month access to Civilization Five Online. Register with your credit card for continuing play at only $14.95 per month.

Or, to be completely lame...

Wait for it...

Each Civ seems to have a life span of at least 4 years, ie, Civ 3 from 2001-2005 and so i would imagine Civ 4 will last from 2005 to 2009? I imagine its an expansion pack like the conquests expansion to Civ 3.

did Civ III crash on multiple systems right out the box just like Civ IV does? Possibly Firaxis sees what a clusterph*@k they made with Civ IV and are hoping to turn things around with Civ V?

I surely hope it's nothing related in Civ 5. In this short time they could not make any good game. I'm basing my opinion on what current Civ turned out.

There's no way it's gonna be Civ5 in 2008. Civ4 only came out 18 months ago. Give them a chance. :p
