Civ 5 Testers group ... AKA I HATE YOU GUYZ !!!

that's nice of them, didn't knew that.

Er... and that is good how exatcly?
Do you even realise the situation you were in?

Supposedly you purchased the first copy of HL2 already.
Hence, all steam did was make you pay for it twice and than actually give you full ownership over just 1 of the copies.

As a consumer, you should from day 1 have the right to gift or sell the full copy of any product you pay for to anyone you want.

It's like if you bought a car. And than, years later when you want to sell it as used to get the money for a new one the car company would say you can't. But if you buy another one of the same type, than you are allowed to give one up to someone else.

WTH?

They throw you a bone and you praise them for it. Did you even stop to consider that they did nothing but return to you something that should have been rightfully yours in the first place?

Oh hai, I'm the actual situation. Nice to meet you.

I bought both on physical media. I own the disks for both copies, and can install them when and where I want. I can sell them at a garage sale. I can turn them into coasters. I can play frisbee.

The Orange Box was one of the best deals in PC gaming, containing 5 games for $20. One of those 5 I already owned, so Steam allowed me, instead of packaging up the disk with the box and mailing it to a friend, to send it digitally instead. I thought that was nice of them.

Seriously, you need to take a deep breath and calm down. This is not The Revolution, nor is it televised.

Are you trying to be funny or to insult me?
If it's the former, you have failed. If it is the later you have succeeded brilliantly.

I will admit that I have misinterpreted the situation. But you did fail to provide an adequate description of it in the first place. So it is your fault, not mine.

Just my two cents: I bought Half-life 2 the day it came out - love that game. Years later, I bought The Orange Box, which comes with a copy of half-life 2. Steam noticed that I 'owned' two copies and allowed me to gift the full game to anyone I knew.

They certainly didn't have to do that, and they gained a lot of goodwill with that act. Valve is not the perfect company, but they are a pretty damn good one.

The situation you described is nothing special at all, it is 'fixed' and described in Steam FAQ.
Mostly, it was a bussiness decision to avoid angry customers (And a must-do, after all). No point in praising them for that 'gift'.

@Valk you ought to see this post!

I'm not going to comment on the other discussion; That's the kind of thing I asked to be taken to off-topic.

As for that link: The peace bug is known (barely; JUST happened to a tester a few days ago, very rare bug, but a large player base means rare bugs are found; Inherent result of release, happens to all games) and fixed.

The second I believe is fixed; I've lost track of the changes between my release version and the test version.

As for the others: I've never seen graphical issues of that sort (not in the release, that is; Were plenty a while back in the test version), so it sounds to me that his PC isn't quite up to snuff. Same thing for the crash.

Ah!, yeah. I do remember a dude in that forum complaining because his game couldn't start.
It turned out he had 32 MB of video:lol:. I think many people just don't read the game requirements.
But still, there are some bugs that are annoying, and worse, I still can't get CiV to run!

Exactly?
Before WinXP fix, I had the crash at the start like everybody else (With the same problem).

Right now, the farther I can go is to the intro video. A bit later, it crashes. But without report, nothing, it just goes to the desktop.
And it crashes too even if I disable the intro video.
I've tried every suggestion that are on the 2k forums, but since I see they're working to fix the game (Hopefully), I've just decided to wait. I'm not in a hurry:).

(Almost 80% of customers say they have some kind of problem with CiV, so it would be better to wait).

Well, 80% of those who have posted. Which is most likely around 20% of customers, if not less. People who have issues are far more likely to post, so I would not say it's 80% that have actual issues (Meaning, bugs, not balance/"I want this!" issues).

Best thing I can say is to check the log files. My Games/Civ5/Logs.
