Civ 7 Religon YouTube Short

It was suggested that UI can be changed easily, even at the last moment.

This is, to my understanding, pretty much true. But while the UI is being worked on (if it is being worked on), its results can be pretty wonky. So it makes sense that the current UI, which is presumably near error free, would continue to be used until the UI team has a new version that passes muster.

I find this to draw inspiration from Civ 5 partially transparent black backgrounds, but with actual texture and styling, to look more modern. And I like both. I actually struggle to read white text on blue of Civ 6 and Civ 4. But I'm a programmer so I am biased toward practicality of eyes-calming black bg with white text.

I really don't have a problem with the look of the UI, it looks quite smart to me, just as long as it functions a little better than in VI. e.g., no need to do maths to figure out which policies are best.

As for religion... it remains the part of the game that I'm least impressed by.

I'm kind of disappointed in this focus on relics. I never liked relic gameplay in Civ 6. This new direction seems to be leaning more into it, like they're an entire bucket to fill up.

I think That is what it is #Relics=Religious victory points=# of times you have spread your religion in a particular way.

You can always play Majapahit and get Relics by building your unique quarter.

The only reason I have been hopeful it would be changed is because it was so roundly criticized by the influencers who played the game (and it doesn't have many fans here on the forum).

The UI has been improved since then (the resource screen is much informative, the capital city is now identifiable with a star, the leader mood in their little banner is better displayed, ...), but its style has not changed.

Religion, the tree with... two nodes

Yeah, probably the most underwhelming part of this video: you have an specific page for... ¿two civs?.

It may be WIP, perhaps but the fact that there is two founder beliefs only, and each of these civs provides one of them is maybe a warning sign that will be all. :undecide:

No traditions unlocked by religion either. I was hoping on that to spice things up. Getting relics just by different types of "converting" does not make things sound very fun either.

We'll need to try it. We must suppose it has been tested to be enjoyable... but then... we have exaples of several features that did not succed in past game(s).

What bothered me about the originals was the small font, large amount of blank space, sameish icons, etc. The style itself was fine as far as i am concerned. Nothing wrong with a little minimalish.

Aren't Evangelism (unlocked by Theology) and Rationalism and Religious Orders (unlocked by Reformation) 3 social policies? Or I don't understand well your terminology?

He neans Civics. Religion has whole page to itself containing justvtwo Civics. As far as we can see right now.

I don’t know, I think the grey is oppressive and repetitive. Plus the rest of the game looks so beautiful. It’s just all covered up with this millennial grey paint.

Yes, I wrote civs instead of civics. :crazyeye:

But I get @Evolena is referring to traditions. And indeed I was wrong expecting these would be differentiated on some way from "regular" social policies (as far as I have checked, they are not). Nevertheless, I don't see the effects provided carrying over to the next age, so I will stay thinking these tree items, while social civics, are not managed as carryover traditions.

And previous iterations had such incredible style in the UI. Art Deco. Baroque. Now it's dreadfully minimalist; harsh rectangles.

I'm also not keen on the unexplored regions being those dark hex tiles that flip over when explored. It just looks needlessly elaborate to me, but I don't expect that to change. It looks like someone had a very specific vision for those.
Potentially, the founder’s edition fog of war skin is less dark. I would be surprised if it was complete different though and not tile flipping.

It's less the darkness and more about the mechanical busy-ness of multiple hexes rotating out of the way when you explore.

Well, Bauhaus Modernism is also an incredible style tho :)
