I did seem to notice that the fortifications have to be from the era. I would start with only like a plus 3 bonus from it but then as i built medieval fornication for Viet, it exploded. Synergies really well with Vietamese actually.

Someone posted a screenshot earlier getting +70 from the tradition at the beginning of modern.

Maybe it was a graphical glitch or something related to viet because when I added it I swear science only went up by like 3.

Screenshot was mine, and it was for Ming; their great wall is ageless fortification, hence the nice bump.

I've only played them once but found they were great fun. It's one of these civs that feels it has a nice coherent theme, and added to the fact antiquity warfare is probably the most exciting, it makes for a great design.

Oh, yeah, I think the only exception to that rule is Machu Pikchu, which applies its bonuses to exploration (but not modern) buildings in the modern era.

I remember reading something along those lines, and yet, those were taken today:
(in order, it's end of Exploration, turn one of Modern, and then after overbuilding Hospital)

That’s annoying…looks like end of ageless ones don’t get it in Modern either… Maybe that will get fixed with 1.2.4

Palace lost it because I made that city my new capital, so it's technically built in modern. It's still there on granary, saw pit, fishing quay and the unique Greek quarter:

They changed the Makchu Pikchu effect though! But the Chola wonder got fixed to provide happiness also for Modern Age buildings.
