Since the 1.61 patch, mods made in English require the English version of the game. Why? I have no idea. I've included French entries for everything in Gold but they won't show on a French install. Change the game language to English and they should work. Sorry for the inconvenience but you can ask Firaxis about this.

Hello...

I've downloaded the Civ Gold Vanilla 3.0 mod, and extracted it to the /Warlords/Mods folder. I started Warlords and saw the mod in the menu, ran it, and then got approximately 1,134 xml errors. I've downloaded the most recent game patch and am playing the English version.

What do I do? I thank you...

Umm, you have to download the Warlords version, the Vanilla version is for Vanilla 1.61, not Warlords.

Maybe you have the mod for civ4 simple , not for warlords...

Hi

Ive played a version of CivGold for a while now - first with Vanilla and now with Warloards (2.08). I've tweaked it a bit (merged it with minor changes by myself and others). I really enjoy it! Thanks!!

I've got one question though: In Vanilla the city list for each civilization was defined two places in the CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml file and the CIV4GameTextInfos_Cities.xml file. In Warlords it seems a lot of files are “missing”, eg. the CIV4GameTextInfos_Cities.xml file. So my question is: Is it enough to edit the city list of the CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml file. I ask because I find the city list of my favorite civ (the Russian) way too short.

I guess my question kind of goes for other files too? In short: For the files that are not found under the Warlords installation, do Warlords use the files from the Vanilla installation. If so how do I place these files (modified version) in my Mods folder?

Cool.

Whenever you use a tag you need to reference it elsewhere. In other words, in CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml you have a tag that says TXT_CITY_MOSCOW. So you need a reference in another file, like CIV4GameTextInfos_Cities.xml, that says TXT_CITY_MOSCOW = 'Moscow'.

If you want to avoid editing in two places, you can simply replace the tag (TXT_CITY_MOSCOW) with the actual name (Moscow) in the CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml file.

I guess my question kind of goes for other files too? In short: For the files that are not found under the Warlords installation, do Warlords use the files from the Vanilla installation. If so how do I place these files (modified version) in my Mods folder?

Warlords uses the files from the Vanilla, where applicable, yes. If you copy a new version of that file to your mods folder and edit it, the game will use the modded file and not the vanilla one. Just make sure the path is correct.

A bit of detail would be helpful.

well i download it, i used that program you to unzip it with, but it doesnt works and says it is "corrupted"

You download it, you use 7-zip to open the archive, and it gives you a message that the file is corrupted?

Try using WinRAR to open it. I've heard of this problem before and it's not the file, it the program used to open it. 7-zip *should* work. I'll try downloading a copy tonight and opening it just to make sure.

tried it with winzar now it says its "damaged"

I apoligize for not finding this myself, but does this mod allow 24 or more civs in a game? I'm looking for a way to do it.

No it doesnt allow 24 or more civs in the actual game, however it adds around 50 new civs to select to play. If you want to play with 24 or even 50!!!! civs there is a 24 or 50 civ dll in the mod comps section. Just place it in the assets folder in the CivGold mod folder. Hope it helps you! :D

Love the mod but I have two questions...
1. Is there any way to change the Civ colors? Bc Poland is PINK.....please say there is...

2. Is there anyway to play the scenarios with the new civs?

Hi there,

Thanks for the comments.

1. Yes, you can change the colour in the TeamColour XML file. You can change TEALCOLOR_POLAND to TEAMCOLOR_RED (or whatever)

Sorry, my syntax may be incorrect because I'm at work. I'll look when I get home.

2. I don't think so but there may be maps and scenarios made for Gold if you look around.

Wow thanks for the reply!

Also it was just wondering if there is any way to play more then 18civs on any given map?

Thanks a lot!:goodjob:

Okay, back to the original:

In the mod folder, go to XML\Civilizations and find CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml

In that file, find the entry for Poland and change PLAYERCOLOR_POLAND to PLAYERCOLOR_DARK_RED

Now, PLAYERCOLOR_DARK_RED belongs to Russia, which means that if Poland ends up being beside Russia in the game, the borders will "merge" and you will not be able to distinguish your territory from his. You can fix this by swapping - simply edit the Russian entry to PLAYERCOLOR_POLAND.

As for the map, there are mods that will allow up to 50 civs on a map. Check the downloads section.

Yea thanks for the reply, it was really useful!
And as for the 18+ Civs I can't find anything for Vanilla Civ 4, because I don't have warlords.:(

Once again, thanks for the help!

Hi new to using mods. I downloaded the final vanilla version, absolutely brilliant but found a spelling mistake. When playing as Scotland I noticed that Inverness comes up as Iverness.
