Civ Ideas & Suggestions Not-Worth-Their-Own-Thread

As the latest patch officially removed upgrading obsolete units in other friendly civ's/cs's territories, I have to concur with the change made, HOWEVER I do believe civ's that are sharing a DoF with you and allied city states SHOULD let you upgrade your units in their borders. I really like the new AI, but I really did not like the fact that I was in a co-op war with Monty against Nap and I couldn't upgrade my now-almost-useless War Elephants into Knights... without moving them half a continent, and withdrawing them from the battle lines.

I wonder, why don't we put a time limit to Wonders? Just to avoid someone to build ancient wonders at the 21st century or something.

Maybe it should be: ''you can't build this if someone gets to X era'', or ''you can't build this when X turn arrives.

What do you think?

I think it should be a great idea to change the "city connected to trade network" icon when it is a railroad connection. It would be very useful to detect several cities not connected by railroad when you forgot to update a road section.

What the game needs, are more reasons than just what you do, for the AI not to like you. We need political and religious ideologies to set civs apart or bring them closer. A civ that counts itself compatible in some way, may forgive certain transgressions like god awful warmongering, towards a civ it feels close too, in religious, and political ways, even when other civs keep asking for the aggressor to be denounced. We need to see true diversity in CiV. The game would become more fun and interesting. Right now diplomacy is too static, too readable, too obvious. How, what, when, and why does each civ act the way it does? When studying history about a civilization we use PRIMES to describe each civ. Politcal, Religious, Intellectual, Military, Economic, and Social tendencies. These should be added into CiV for each civ. This would give the game the personality it is missing. :) Just some thoughts I had today.

If there are any other things that you feel the game is missing, or needs improvement in, please list them.

Some form of stacking civilian units would be a start. A spaceship part and a great person should be able to occupy the same space or two workers or a worker and a settler. (Although two workers couldn't work together)

Relaxing the 1UPT rule where it makes sense.

Agreed, even if it's limited to 2 civilian units. I'm not so sold on the naval stacking though; it would be so much more painful to properly coordinate an escort for each unit in an ocean crossing. I'd rather all embarked units had to be bombarded (albeit at a very low defensive strength) so they'd still be vulnerable but not so hugely so as they are now.

Much agreed on needing more diplomatic bonuses and penalties too (including a big penalty for razing and nuking)...

But the main thing I think it really feels like it's missing is a proper foreign trade model. Hell, even something as simple as a "trade agreement" that gives n gold per turn, based on era or something, to both players would be good enough (though I'd much prefer something more robust - preferably also involving city states).

I think the following additions could be easily added to Civ V:
  • Save state of "Info panel" in savegame. Currently, each time I open a savegame it's closed, so I have to select "show research" every time.
  • Save state of "show queue box" in each of the cities in savegame. Currently, each time I open a savegame is unmarked, so I have to click on it for all cities every time.

My thoughts and suggestions goes in direction that workers also should have upgrades like the era in which they operate ( for instance basic worker could do just irrigation, roads and mines, advanced worker which will be optioned ( built or upgraded) in the next era could build newer mines, roads with additional moving bonus and later railroads which basic workers could do). Basically that means not automatically upgraded bonuses for the terrain which happens when you advance to the next era - this would happen as soon as your upgraded worker transform or upgrade the mine, road..). This also means that workers will always has a lot more work to do and will be much more valuable.
Just an idea.. ;)

One little suggestion. Please change the city of the spanish city of "Asturias" to "Oviedo". Asturias is the name of an autonomous community within Spain, not the name of a city. Its capital is Oviedo.

Also the name of the spanish city of "Logrono" is in fact "Logroño", with a "ñ" character.

Færøerne is the Danish name for the Faroe Islands, which is a small country. Tórshavn is its capital, and the cultural and commercial center of the Isles. It would make a lot more sense to have the capital as a city instead of the entire nation.

Especially considering that the next city in their list is Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.
