Well,PS2 civ is better than no civ but I hear the AI turns get incredibly long as the game progresses.And of course you can't enjoy any scenarios or mods and what not.
Better to get a PC copy.They are out there.2.42 has shown up in several multipacks as well as just in jewel case.I picked up 2.42 at a place called Future Shop here in Canada for under $15 CDN.I also got it as part of the Risk Gold package for $30 CDN.
Once I have 2.42,I can use Cedric's updates to make it into MGE and FW..which I did

I just picked up a backup copy sold at Costco for $23. It came bundled with some other game that I might get around to playing is a few years call Civ III.

I think I'll keep on searching for the pc version and buy Gran Turismo 2 for my psx instead
hehehe..I think you'll be happy with that decision.Civilization is not a game for consoles.
