Civ III on XP SP2 not doing anything!!!!

Ok i have seen this problem on a few of the threads but no soloution was suggested.

I recently bought Civ III complete for my laptop. I installed it first time no probs was playing it for about a week.

I then hadsome issues with SP2 so i unistalled it and re installed it (thats a copletely seperate adventure into the registry that id rather forget)

On looking to play Civ III again i found it wasnt there so i re-installed it..

However! now it doesnt load. it brings up no error messages nothing.

When i click on the link the disk spins up for a few seconds then nothing!

SO i try ejecting hte disk and and putting it back in and selecting play from the auto run. Still nothing .... checked int eh task manager nothing is running.
Went into the Civ Directories on the ocmputer everything is there but on trying to play any of hte game files (civ III, PTW, Conquests, complete) same problem

The editors load fine just i cant seem to get he game to do anything,

Some body please help cos ive been dying to play this gain!!!!

ok i realy dont know what has been going on with my computer
I downloaded a registry cleaner to try and clean out all the civ II entries.
I decided to try one last tiem to see if i can get Civ II to work and.....
IT WORKS!
I hadnt done anythign to the registry yet...
now here is the weird part. I play a quick game and i go to come back to it today and all of my old save games are there from before I had all the problems with SP2
Now bear in mind that I have unistalled and re-installed the game about 3 times!!!
I dont know what was going on but im jsut happy it works now..

If anyone has any idea what happened please post to this thread so others with the same problem wont have the urgeto throw their computer out of the window!

Windows sucks.

That doesn't help much, but it is the only explanation I have, right now....

yeah i agree... however what are the alternatives.... virtualy the whole world uses pcs!

Yeah, but some of us don't use MS Windows.
