Civ IV Reference Charts

For BtS you should have a look at

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=236346

It is really nice (and your wife will consider it being part of the box)

I have looked at it and you are right, it is very professional looking and gorgeous. The author spent a lot of hard work and truly deserves a :goodjob:

It just doesn't fit my needs, though. I'm looking for something that I can print out and quickly find the information I need. This thing is a massive amount of pages and in color. I don't have access to a color printer that can print it efficiently. I tried printing the 'booklet' version at the office, but couldn't get the page flipping to work right. Since, this isn't exactly 'work related' ;) I had to give up.

That is why I am sooooo looking forward to Michelangelo's updates to this guide. It is concise and to the point. It has all the information about 'Units' or 'Buildings' or 'Wonders' (the three that I use most, btw) each on a single page. This helps me quickly make my decisions. The excel format means that it is easily customizable and searchable.

Hmm - I had no problem printing the booklet version on a black and white printer. But as long as nobody else is updating the sheets here I use the BtS reference. :D

For those without Excel, you may find you can use this guide reasonably well with the free (as in beer) OpenOffice.org calc. I don't know if all the macros work, however, OpenOffice.org calc does appear to recognize them.

You can get OpenOffice.org from many popular download sites.

Hey people,

Sorry to be so silent last couple of months, but a serious illness of my mother, from which in the end she didn't recover, occupied me most of the time. I've mentioned RL-stuff taking over but I thought all you patiently waiting people deserve to know the reason for it. During most of the time I thought her situation would stabalize and I could find some time to finish it. With hindsight I should have asked for help from you guys to help finish the last couple of pages.

I plan on finishing this in the christmas hollidays, I just need a couple of pages to work through.

So see you soon.

Hey Michelangelo – I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. My deepest condolences. Don't worry about the delay with the charts – being with family is always more important.
I'll certainly say a prayer for your whole family.

My best wishes to all of you.

Hai Michelangelo,

My condolences for the loss of your mother.

Although you only need to do a few last pages, do you need a hand?
Excel has few mysteries for me, I have the complete Civ4 version and I wouldn't mind to do some reviewing.

:coffee: Hey Michelangelo, you still around good sir?

If you've lost motivation to finish this project (totally understandable) would you consider releasing the work you have already done so that someone else could finish it?

Thanks so much! :hatsoff:

@ Michelangelo

I would be more than willing to try to help. I have a pretty good understanding of excel and a fair understanding of BTS. If you need help, just let me know.

@General W
You're right that I had lost some interest, or to say it more accurately had my interests somewhere else. But these sheets kept hovering in the back of my mind. Someday they have to get finished. So you're friendly reminder moved it up to where I'm working on it again. I'll try to finish it now for real or I'll post it "as is" here in this forum for someone else to finish.

Last week I even played a game of civ again after a 6 months gap. :)

@Morpheus, you're offer is very kind :thanx: and if you don't mind I would like to ask you to do some bughunting when I finish it. That would help a great deal, as I haven't that much experience with actually playing BTS. ;)

@ Michelangelo
I understand how life seems to through things at you that pushes Civ to the back of the priorities. My wife and I are expecting our first child in August so my life is about to turn upside down.

With that said I would love to do some bug hunting. I have been playing BTS only for the last serveral months so I think I have a fair understanding of the facts. So, I look forward to helping you out any way that I can.

Good Luck with life.

@Michelangelo – welcome back :)

Again, my sincere condolences on your loss.

Looking forward to seeing your completed work. If it's anything like the first one – it'll be well worth the wait :D

My best to you and yours,
General_W

After a long wait the Complete Civ4 Reference sheets have finally been updated. They are now compatible to the latest patches and include all version of Civ 4. The sheets can be found in the download area of Civfanatics

Go to the reference sheets

The are also available as a PDF version

I would like to ask if anyone finds errors to post them in this forum

Special thanks this time go to General_W and Morpheus11 for providing the motivation to finish the sheets. :thanx:

Have fun

:bounce: [party] These are really great Michelangelo!

Just the facts, without a lot of clutter! Thank you so much. It’s been worth the wait :D

I’ve downloaded both versions, and will start using it immediately. If I come across any errors, I’ll let you know.

Again: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Found an error. I thought that SAM Infantry had a 50% chance to shoot down aircraft, but I looked and found the sheet was right; however, the game says SAM Inantry gets +75% vs Helicopters, where the reference says +50%, which may have been a pre-BTS value.

Michelangelo ~ That is absolutely awesome. I am not going to lie to you, it might take me a while to find any problems with this amazing reference book. :D

You get two thumbs up from me. :goodjob: :goodjob:

One thing that I am going to look into tweaking is on the on the unique units page. I would like to have a column for what this unit replaces, e.g. Redcoats replace Rifleman. And then make that sortable. I like to know if my UU is something that I don't like to build anyway, e.g. horse archers, or musketmen.

If I can figure out the best way to add that I will send it to you. I want to make sure that I keep the clean look of this create reference tool.

Again, thanks for all your hard work that you put into this. It will not be forgotten.

I did notice one thing as I was looking through the BTS sheet. The unique unit for the Netherlands is something that I hadn't heard of. It looks like it might not be in English and since the rest of the document is in English I thought this should be there too. I believe it should be "East Indiamen", but that is just a guess since I don't have CIV here at work.
