Civ Revolution 2

Some things that I would like to see, in a sequel I hope gets made:

> More civ's and some variety in their personality/AI

> Some sort of PBEM mode maybe? I don't know if it's even possible to do through a console... but it would be nice for playing longer multiplayer games

> Different speed games (quick, normal, epic, marathon, etc)

> More than 5 players/civ's per game!

> More era specific units for scenarios.
>>>>>A full length game/scenario set in the middle ages or WWII would need more than the current unit variety.

> User created content, map maker even?

> Multiple leaders per civilization

> Larger maps

> More branches in the tech tree, more techs

> The ability to destroy/raze conquered cities, or even your own. In most games, my cities end up being way too close to one another, IMO. Or the ability to invade a city, loot it, but let it remain in control of your opponent.

> More control in the game type you play, customizing the game
>>>>> option to turn off barbarians, set the global climate, tectonics, landmasses, set victory conditions on/off, picking your opponent civ's, etc

> More in game options!!!
>>>>> This one is a must.
>>>>> Options to turn off advisors, speed up combat, turn off animations, turn off the camera's autocentering on moving units, turning off zoomed in combat, etc

> Speaking of zoom, better zooming options to view your large and expanding empire.

> Stackable units

> More victory conditions

> More ages/eras, for example:
>>>>> Ancient -> Classical -> Middle -> Colonial/Imperial -> Industrial -> Modern -> Post-Modern
>>>>> I'm no historian, so the example could be off, but you get the idea....

> More resource types.

> More diplomatic options

> Abandon the square tiled maps, use hexagons

> Anti-Air ground units, Air support

> All in all, I would like to see the CivRev franchise gain a lot more tactical depth and complexity. CivRev2 could implement the increasing orders of complexity in the increasing difficulty settings

Looking back at my list, I just seem to want MOAR MOAR MOAR! :) But I guess that's because I already like a lot about the game.

Having played Civ3 and Civ4, I really like CivRev being so fun and yet so much more simple and "dumbed down" than the PC games. But I would really like to see CivRev become a little bit deeper and more complex like its PC cousins. Maybe I just want a Civ game like the PC ones, on the console.

Just play civ4 then.. You want civ4 for console.. Sid didn't want that, and he decides what to do, then, you will never have civ4 for console.. You are only asking for longer games, while Sid stated he wanted faster games for consoles.. Sid will never change what he wanted to do, changing the whole game, then, these are just dreams.. Some things could be used as ideas, like fixing bugs or putting new units, but only 3-4 units, and no special units unless the civ gets a bonus with it (Like it is now).

Obviously I don't speak for Sid, or the entire CivRev customer base. But that was just what I would like to see (call it a dream, it is what it is). I wasn't trying to guess at what will be included in the final product, I was just listing what I would include in my fantasy world.

And they better change the game. I don't want to buy CivRev2 and find out it is just the original with better graphics, fixed bugs and/or a few new units. That is what I would like to see as DLC, not as a whole standalone sequel.

If you only want some minor changes, like a couple more units, fixed bugs or even a new civ, it should be on a list of things you want to see in DLC. A sequel needs to add considerable amounts of content or make things play in a whole different way for it to be worth my money.

they should have more UU's with different stats and paint schemes for each one. I never use my own workers on the previous civ games I just automate them so idc if they bring them back. There should be archipelogo and different map types that should be random every time you play them. There should be more civs as well as bigger maps.

Also playable on the PC.

It would pretty cool if they not only had PC and console versions for CivRev2, but if they were compatible to play cross-platform in multiplayer.

They should make it a little deeper than it is... so far it's the only civ ever released that I've been able to beat on deity mode! Resources should do somthing, more units, larger maps, better diplimacy.... right of passage agreements, ect ect.... I like rev for what it was... but it could have been SO much better.

I agree with the sentiments that Revolution isn't supposed to be as complex as the main series. With that in mind, the things I miss most from the main Civ series (plus a few original ideas):

Right of Passage agreements - because it's annoying having to declare war just to sail across one square; maybe implement a tax for crossing another player's territory

Ability to upgrade/disband units - although I read that the latter is already implemented in non-DS versions...

More than one nuke - for the lulz

More logical tech-tree - Courthouses at Code of Laws, at least! Also give a better bonus for discovering Networking first (free universities in all cities?).

Feudal government - this would have the bonus Republic currently does (representing expansion through fiefdoms); Republic would double the effects of settled Great People (representation increases influence of said people)

Something I don't miss: worker units - I like not having to micro-mange improvements so much, and doing so doesn't really fit in with the concept of 'Civ, streamlined'

Also, is it just me, or is there actually no difference between a 'Starting' bonus and an 'Ancient era' bonus - I mean, they're both just bonus available at game-start, right? Just seemed a bit odd, to me.
- :undecide:

Oh, and a Wii release would be nice too please!
- :)

Wish it could skip through number of turns, or advancing years automatically to see what would happen to a specific development you've created.

That, and removing or expanding the enforced time-limit and victories.

I'm new to this game (any Civilization game) and I realize the turn-based play is there for a reason, but sure would be nice to have an option to switch it off at times or certain situations as when City menu jumps endlessly between a dozen different cities.

That just says Rev won't be coming to PC, not that there won't be a Rev 2...unless I'm missing something...
-
Hmmm... I was responding to a comment made by someone hoping Rev would eventually come out for the PC, but that seems to have mysteriously disappeared...

For the DS version:

- Improve the graphics and interface. Game looks like an old 80s game. Nothing against 80s games, but a DS can do a loooooooooot better than this.
- Draw inspitation from "Age of Empires: Age of Kings" (the DS game again) After all, this game is highly inspired by Civilization, so Civilization could return the favour.
- Currently, you must go to war even if you want to pursue another victory condition. Of course, I understand that some small wars and a decent sized army is needed for any kind of player. But not total war.

Huh? I don't have this on the PS3 and I thought the DS was identical from a gameplay perspective. For tech, econ & culture you can try and turtle and be at peace while you build your spaceship, World Bank or UN. Of course, the other Civs will typically declare war on you as you get close to the victory. But you don't need to declare war on anyone to get those victories. (And you can't if you're a Democracy.)

if they make a civ rev 2 they should have:
1. Bigger maps, they are just way too small and after time it becomes overcrowded
2. You should be able to choose a continent if u want, also world should be in the shape of the actual continents
3. More units, no explanation needed
4. There should be a timeline like, 2000Bc-2100ad with real facts about the year and you should be able to participate in wars and things that happened that year
5. no limit, i dont want to have to rush, ill end the game when i want
6. more leaders/civilizations like israelites and navajo etc. and wherever the civilization is(or was) located is where it should be on the map(read #2
7. less violent AI
8. more tech, i think there should be more ways to get future technology than just Superconducter and globilization
9. i dont want to go thru all my cities while they ask me wat do u want to build
10. i think all available civiliations in game should all be with you at once(read 6) not just 4 others

also some other things i didnt put in the top 10:
11: a variety of personalities depending on how they were in real life
12: level builder, you can build a multiplayer level and make rules, etc
13: like i said in my last post, all civilizations should be in the game at once not just 4 others, i also think that the year that civilization came into existance, is what year in the game they should rise, and when the civ. fell thats when the civilization leads(ex. americans = 1620 - End of game.)
14: like last post when i said more leaders/civilizations i also think that there should be more leaders for each civilization (ex. America = A Pilgrim Leader, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, George Bush, Barrack Obama etc)
15: i also think that there should be different types of surroundings because i dont want to have a 3 space desert id rather have a 10-15 space desert also id like to settle in ice caps i also think the oceans should have names (ex. next to america pacific and atlantic, in america, mississippi river, and sonoran desert)
16. id like to see canyons and ,mountains(ex. in america, rockie mountains and grand canyon.)

17: more types of eras, like maybe revolutionary era(1600-1799) and renaissance era(1400-1599 and nonbelievers era(1000BC-1BC) etc etc etc
18: more enemies, i nonbelievers like fighting JUST the barbarians, like in each era a different enemy, like stone age = cavemen, religious = nonbelievers, medieval = black knights etc etc etc
19: you can keep playing after a victory, like f you win a domination victory, you keep going afterwards, etc, more likely a cultural, economic, or technology victory cuz if you win a tech you can still build UN, if you win economic, still get all tech and finish buying all wonders, etc
20: id like to see weather/seasons like every year in game is a different season and depending on season, you get a special ability, like spring, extra food, summer, 1/2 cost of boats, fall, extra spies, etc. and weather AKA freak storms(doesnt depend on season) can influence things like if a freak heat wave happens, all vehicles dont work maybe, etc etc etc

So 2K, please make a Civ Rev 2! i love the game and id like to see a 2nd one
