Hey, Civfanatics! The July update is coming tomorrow, and so is Auto-Explore, Age Transition Improvements, and a new unique Commander, Trung Nhi!

We just released a developer update video showcasing the highlights here:

Full update notes are on the way tomorrow!

EDIT: You may have noticed in our latest Developer Update Video a certain Mongolian warrior-ruler... For all of our Founder's Edition players - Genghis Khan, alongside Dai Viet and Assyria, will be releasing alongside Update 1.2.3 tomorrow!

Keep an eye out for more game guides and info soon, and check out the full roadmap here for Right to Rule:

Looks good, and Shaun is one of my favourite host! But to me the biggest news is the approach of the DLC material, Civ needs more Civs!!

Woah, Right to Rule is rolling out! Okay, that'll make me dive back into the game. Still, eagerly anticipating the bigger changes they have planned going forward.
I really like that Continuity is the default option.
Agreed, big sigh of relief from me when I saw that.

Also I know it's probably a one-off, but I wouldn't mind seeing more Leader extras like a unique commander. I feel leaders don't get enough to distinguish them compared to Civs with all the uniques and traditions.

They are hard to build, because leader bonuses are supposed to be age-agnostic, but yes, that's really fun.

I really hope they drop the "build something you believe in" slogan when they eventually make a version of this game playable as a civ game.

Every time I see that phrase it just reminds me how much I don't want to play this game.
I feel that will depend on the degree of changes made to the game.

I am curious why no one is posting these updates to Steam. A Steam user would have no idea that a patch is coming this week.

Upon thinking about it a little more, it would be more thematic if Silla (Antiquity), Dai Viet (Explo), and Genghis Khan all came out together rather than apart. with Assyria Antiquity, Qajar Modern, and Lakshmibai coming for part 2

Firaxis confirmed in the comment section of that video that Dai Viet's theme was being posted this week.

I dont understand well. So, new civs and leaders will come tomorrow with 1.2.3?

They exceeded what I expected from consistency setting - we will keep ancient navy, siege units and civil ones:7happy: The timer works as I imagined it - from the moment on the clocks begins to tick only turns add to age completion.

The transition changes are much more extensive than I expected.

Allowing civilian units like Scouts and Settlers as well as Antgiquity ships to 'carry over' means you can pre-plan your first moves in the next Age much more completely than before. I can foresee some real 'land rush' games in multi-player. The survivability of ships also changes the calculations of those Civs with Naval Uniques: Aksum in Antiquity suddenly looks marginally better when you know that your fleet of Dhows wont suddenly disappear!

Having the type of transition be a choice is also very nice. If my army is utterly out of position because it was off beating up on Ultima Thule it is nice to have the option of keeping it beating at the start of the new Age or getting it all back home because my new neighbor in Exploration is Mongolia . . .
